I was in a local VZW and messed around with the DX2 again and like running into a lover that did you wrong, all the good things come back in mind, rather than the bad stuff (low ram, audio pops and random reboots).

The (IMO) sweet display, great call quality, hardware buttons (no gaming accidents that capacitive buttons cause), butter smooth N64 and PSX gaming, super easy to see the display in sunlight, nice solid build.....

Getting used to my Incredible and its muddy call quality, app install problems (due to data/data folder issue) and poor visibility outside has become a chore. Not to mention SUPER easy hitting the navigation buttons while gaming and a lot of games that were smooth, suck on a single core (this includes the newer 8655).

........ Memories, like the corners of our minds.... the way we were..... :(

    ;):)

I don't see how anyone can play N64/PSX games without physical keys. I can barely play SNES games properly. The issue is not being able to do multiple inputs. Like, if I'm playing Megaman X I can't charge and jump at the same time. Makes the game way harder!

That being said, I LOVE my X2. :D

I also went from the Incredible to the X2 and cannot imagine going back.

My Incredible had the rebooting problem that plagued the phones. Just opening a browser would cause a reboot and unless the conditions were right it would stay in an infinite reboot loop until I pulled the battery.

The X2 has been a workhorse so far and has met my expectations. I do experience the same problems others are having with Pandora and playing music. During my one month ownership I have only had one reboot.

I've been very happy so far and because I purchased the phone off-contract I have flexibility when the LTE dual-core phones start coming out.

I did not say all games play well, but a bunch did, none the less :)

Racing games, shooters and some fighters play fine, though not as good as with a gamepad.

I kind of miss the X2 also. I went from a Thunderbolt to an X2 then back to a TB because I really wanted the 4G and now I'm kind of pondering going back again. The Bionic needs to hurry up and launch.

I can honestly say I really dont miss the DX2 ! Coming from my droid X,the only things I liked better on the x2 were the HDMI mirror, browser speed when on wifi, and the audio quality when it wasnt popping, skipping or freezing, was incredible.....

As mentioned in the OP, I tend to remember the good things. I think most issues are directly linked to the low operational ram and is why the pops happen in audio and why games will pause for an instant and proceed. I noticed that when playing N64 games. The DX2 played them smooth as butter, but the games would pause in similar repetition as the audio pops with MP3s. Mario Kart is an N64 game that also plays smooth on the Incredible and has ZERO pauses. Ditto for MP3s when multi tasking- no audio pops (the DX2 has audio pops even when not multi tasking and is much worse when you do).

Some folks seem to rationalize that the type of sd card is the issue, but most/all MP3 apps nowadays cache a large chunk or all of the file and THEN play them, so not an issue of streaming the file from card(most are only 3 to 10mb). Same for all Oid emulators (they load the entire file). The only exception being PSX, since they have to load data during the game (big files).

Pending a Gingerbread miracle, I think the DX2 may always have the issue and require a script to try and offset the memory issues. Of course, people that do not root can not, so might be screwed. Still odd how some report no issues and they happened to me, out of the box and after also modding.

Rushmore - I took the plunge and bought a slightly used DX2 off of a member here. Should arrive tomorrow or friday (although I'll be out of town then). The audio issues REALLY bother me as I use my DX as my music/MP3/Pandora streaming constantly. I am going to try an app called SD speed increase in hopes that this may help. I probably should have waited, but the price was good and I figure I saved my upgrade and can give the DX2 to my GF if the Bionic or other worthy unit arrives on Verizon in the next few months. Until then, I will likely be scouring the net for "fixes" for bugs for the DX2 however. I'm hoping bootstrap is available soon - SBF is already here and once bootstrap hits the DX2 devs and mods should follow shortly.

Seems the DX2 is one update away from great and rooters can mitigate some issues.

"Sadly" swyping this on my Incredible and waiting for the update to make it great. Still, depending on the price of a used one......
