    I was able to roll back my phone from 2.2 to 2.1 back in august, I had root, recently my phone was unintentionally updated to the stock 2.2 baseband version 2.15.00.07.28 kernal version 2.6.32.15-g746f4f0 build number 3.26.651.6 CL218634 software number 3.26.651.6 browser version webkit 3.1 PRI Version 1.40_003 PRL Version 60671.

    I have tried about six time to repeat the roll back to 2.1 process to no avail to regain root, as near as I can tell when I'm in hboot and the PC36IMG.zip is flashing I get a message that says PC3DIAG.zip wrong or no image. After the reboot I am still in 2.2

    I have done a lot of searching and seem to be the only person having this issue. If there are any big brains out there that might have the answer. You can have my first born. Thanks.

    O.K. so your saying you lost root after the 2.2 update correct? If so, you can still root and not have to roll back to 2.1. Matlocks guide is very easy to follow. Just be sure to read everything and follow the step one at a time. Here is the link: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies-extras.html

    Note: 3.30 and up versions are not rootable yet.

    Goodluck, if you have any questions, we're here to help.

    Thank You Button----------------------->

    Thanks very much for the link, however I'm back to square 1 after following procedure, I have restarts and all. I get to the end of the unrevoked process never to see done, it just hangs, in fact while its in hboot it doesn't allow me to volume down to boot usb. My optimism wanes:(

    Just use unrevoked 3. It works on 2.2 now.

    He tried that and it didn't work.

    OP have you tried the hard reset? Is there anything on your sd card that may be interfering with the process? (ie pc36img files?)

    Then he didn't do it right. Probably didn't have the hboot drivers installed.

    I would be willing to donate 40 bucks to your favorite charity or to you, if you are your own favorite charity, if you successfully walk me through this on the phone. I don't want to brick this baby. I'm obviously missing something here. I have done the factory resets and she runs pretty stable with some rebooting occurring generally while using the web.

    If you would be willing to private message me with contact info and with your assistance I get up and running, I could pay pal you or send you an email verification of a donation to a charity of your choice.

    I've done that before.

    I am the comicprophet and I thank you.
