Okay, so I inherited a Droid X in great condition. I haven't modified its hard/software in any way. I'd never had any problems with it until today.
I plugged it in to charge last night, and when I woke up, I noticed it was rebooting itself. This would happen over and over; it would boot up, get to the lock screen and restart. A notification appeared in my menu bar saying that my Droid was running low on internal memory.
What?!?! I had practically everything on a 16gb sd card, and I knew this shouldn't happen. When I tried to transfer data to the SD card, it would crash and restart.
I guess somehow my phone transferred a bunch of data from the SD card to internal storage. The farthest I've gotten is to an info screen that says I have 40kb of memory. I guess my phone doesn't have enough RAM to operate.
So, I decided to try to restore it to factory settings. I hit home+power, held home, and pressed the search key like I'd read to do, but the menu I was supposed to see to reset it never came up.
I've taken the battery and SD card out more times than I can count. After that rambling monologue, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Can you get your phone reset using this method?

Yes, I have tried that. However, when I hit the search button, nothing happens. It just stays on that screen.

I have also seen instructions that say instead of the search button to press both volume up and volume down at the same time.

    I'm sorry, I can't test it for you. I don't have an X here.

Great! Glad you got into the recovery menu. Were you able to get the phone successfully reset?
