I signed up for the beta, but is there any other way to get swype without rooting? I see a Swype download on a torrent site I use and it says it is for the android OS, but I did not know if this was a good option.

    Thanks

What's wrong with using the beta?

I have not gotten an invite and I am impatient. I did just DL SlideIT and it is sweet. I just got the demo but do not really feel like paying 6 bucks for the full version.

The demo should be open for everyone. Did you just give them your email like 30 seconds ago? There should be an auto-respond for you pretty soon. When did you sign up for the beta?

Yep, save the .apk file to your sd card, then use Appinstaller or Astro to install it. Then, you have Swype! :D

I think the open Beta was for two weeks or so. I had to do a hard reset on my phone, and didn't even think about that it would delete Swype.

If you got in the beta, and replace the phone, or do a hard reset, if you still have the email Swype sends, you should still be able to redownload it, I was.

    like the other poster said
    try slideit
    works smoother than swype
plus you can add shortcuts so you dont have to swype 20letter words
