Hey guys, it's my first post! I'm in the USA and I wanted to know if I can officially update the Samsung i5700 to 2.1 just by using Samsung New PC Studio. A lot of the threads I see have stuff about rooting/flashing to get the update, but I am assuming that that's only for Europe. Samsung USA's website does not have the i5700 anywhere, so there is no information about upgrading on there, only Samsung UK's website has stuff. I just want to know if the phone will officially update just by hooking it up via USB and using NPS in America, like is the official update available here. I am planning on buying the phone unlocked. Thank you!

Does anyone know when it will get to America or even the UK? There are like no users in America, so i dont know if there ever will be an update...

I570EXXJD4 is for the following coutries.

Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom.

You could use it in the USA, just need to add your own APN (Access Point Names) settings.

    Wireless & Networks
    Mobile Networks
    Access Point Names
    Your Provider

    Make a note of these.

Alright I'm about to buy the phone unlocked. So it should flash just fine and I will only need to enter my APN settings (T-Mobile USA). Oh, and will the Android Market work completely fine with all of the apps? Thank you!

Without APN settings, you won't be able to get GRPS or MMS messages. In other words no data, no internet access, no sending or receiving multimedia files and no Market Access.

You will probably be able to get internet access through Wifi, but not roaming.

Don't panic though, your provider will be more than willing to give you your APN settings. Most publish these on their websites.

    Here's what I found for T-Mobile USA

    Name: T-Mobile US
    APN: epc.tmobile.com
    Proxy: <not set>
    Port: <not set>
    Username: none
    Password: none
    Server: *
    MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    MMS proxy: <not set>
    MMS port: <not set>
    MCC: 234
    MNC: 30
    APN type: <not set>

    To add these,
    Wireless & Networks
    Mobile Networks
    Access Point Names
Create new one i.e. T-Mobile USA

    Enter APN details here.

If only there was some way we could update our phone's firmware without having to wait for Samsung, or our Mobile Provider to give us the update....

Is there no hope for us?

    Can't anyone help?
