  4. Don't worry everyone. We will have a full blown ics rom in about a month or 2.mark my words. The evo devs are some of the best out there. So ics is a guarentee

well.........we already have ICS for the evo. granted it is very early in the build so it is not that stable but at least we have a rom out for it already. sure it is aosp but it is pure ics which is even better.

now if you are talking about ics for sense then you will have to wait until a port for it is out. once htc releases the source code for it, you will be sure to see ics sense roms come out.

here is the discussion on the rom:

According to the article, this is just there initial list of devices.

So, I wouldn't exactly rule out the possibility of the EVO 4G getting an official ICS update.

I'm just going to cross my fingers.

Being that the phone is considered EOL, you won't see HTC/Sprint release ICS for this phone, it just won't happen. You will have to depend on a ROM dev for it (which isn't a bad thing).

I don't think the evo is eol yet. I was in a store 2 weeks ago and they are still selling them. Very popular phone despite its age. :)

Yes I remember the article, but EOL also assumes they will stop selling it.

Even though it was supposed to go EOL 2 months ago, they are still selling it in stores. It is even still available on their website, albeit not in the prime time spot right at the top it used to be.

I'm not saying this means we will get an ICS update, but the device isnt really EOL either.

You're absolutely right, I remember reading that exact article. The only reason I posted was that the phone is still available for sale. :)

I absolutely believe that we will never see another OTA. Maybe a maintenance update to Gingerbread, but never ICS.

I ran the Preview4 ICS build over the weekend and it is very nice indeed. But just not complete enough to be a daily driver at this point. But it is going to be very sweet indeed. No pun intended.

Sad yes, but does it matter, no. The support in the Evo community is still going strong and it is my belief that it will be that way for some time. We have so much available to us it's not even funny, and a majority of the ROM's we do have are updated often. The Evo's future isn't too gloomy. ;)
