Icon driving me mad

Ive changed the icons on my home screen and the mail one keeps turning back when i receive a email any suggestions

The original one is more like a widget (new mail count) than a straight icon.

It's a known problem with no known solution. Either you have the default icon with the notification, or your own with no notification. Or you download LauncherPro and can have your own icon with the notification, but you lose Sense and its widgets. You just can't win!
