Yeah i figured that would be the same leak. Hmmm...weird how vm came out with a leak first well publicly first over Sprint that definitely threw me for a loop..

Well, it makes sense since VM is now selling the EVO3D and Sprint isn't anymore. It just shows even more so that Sprint is focusing more on pushing LTE and letting their smaller companies handle other things. Its a great sign tho, that atleast they did/are make(ing) a fully functional ICS release for the EVO3D

I agree. sprint and LTE is definitely a must have ASAP!! So that's a good sign. and atleast we hopefully have a possible leak/ evidence of our update for our 3vo ICS finally lol :)

After playing with it a little bit, it seems like it's fairly solid. I get an occasional UI hitch, but everything seems to be in good working order. GPS locks quick, WiMAX is working, 3D is good, ICS apps are working. Face Unlock is surprisingly good, too. It only takes it a split second to scan and unlock.

I would agree with ArmyX with a projected timeframe. I also hope we can see a Sprint leak in the next week or so. It would be nice to see "Sprint" instead of "Virgin Mobile" :p

This vindicates what many of us have said in this thread and the still-happy thread -

    - the 3vo is still a worthy, not obsolete phone

    - yes, there is a shift to LTE, so it makes sense that Sprint is focusing on that

    - HTC has never gone back on their word to support the 3vo

    - Sprint didn't play Evo users over Gingerbread to sell 3vos, and they won't play 3vo owners over ICS to sell LTEvos

I find the news from the French site and the VM leak to be perhaps more than coincidental.

Sprint believes in customer retention - a lot. ;) :)

OK, so we have a major update coming so I think that this reminder is important -

Android maintains an operating system cache, just like a browser cache. And just like when a browser gets all wonky and then works after you clear cache, you want to try the same thing here.

If you are not rooted, a factory data reset will do that for you.

I do it for every major upgrade and highly recommend it - it works to kill weird bugs.

Best to backup first, I recommend MyBackup Pro.

I can show you literally hundreds of people on these forums who have thanked me for this advice, so, I won't make any guarantees other than to guarantee that it's worth a shot. ;) :)

Rooters most always clear that cache when installing roms and don't hit most problems in the first place.

The Sensation forums are reporting scads of ICS bugs - all stuff I've seen upgrading to Froyo and Gingerbread, all stuff fixed as I described.

Thanks for the reminder. Just to clarify, are you saying we should first do a factory reset, then take the official ICS update when it comes out, or do the update first and then a factory reset?

Contacts are the only thing I worry about backing up, and I already backed them up to both SD and Gmail...so we're all good there, apps can always be redownloaded lol

Sweeet, I was just about to complain that my 3vo's been getting to be a lot slower than it used to run. Now I'm gonna sit patiently and wait for ICS :)

I back up everything with Mybackup Pro. It is well worth the money. Backs up just about everything.

have you done restarts and the occasional power off/battery pulls? Mine is still running as fast as the day it came out...use the "clear memory" options in your setting to try and free up some space on it as well...It shouldn't be running slow

ArmyX found his phone running slower due to having a lot of SMS messages.

If anyone has lots of texts and a slow 3vo, I would recommend against restoring those on the update.

Just as a reminder, if you do factory reset your phone, your phone will boot slower the first time around. Expect a 5-10 minute first boot. Just like Early's browser comparison, if you clear out your browser's cache, it loads webpages slower until it rebuilds it's cache. Android is similar.

    Excellent catch, thanks Jer! :)

If you don't have your contacts backed up to your Google account you can export them to your SD card.

Open the people app, hit menu / import/export / export to sd. Them once you're updated open the people app and select import from sd. Your contacts will reload from there. :)

Or just use my backup pro, it does it automatically ;)

My only problem with MyBackupPro is that they only give you 100mb free with the paid version of the App. I have about 500mb of pictures on my phone alone =(

Backup your sd card to your computer, and don't erase it as part of the factory data reset. ;)

Dropbox is also another alternative to backing up essential things from your SD card. Box.net is also good, and I think they still have their promotion for 50GB of free storage on Box for Android users. But you're limited to 10 GB bandwidth a month.

Thanks Early. :p Going to do that today! ;)
I've been thinking about trying Dropbox for awhile now. It's very tempting! I haven't picked a cloud service yet. It's on my to-do list.

I use both Dropbox and Box cloud services. It helps with my storage memory. I keep both music and pictures on them. You can even use it to store apps. It will store short videos too. They both have a size upload limit with the free versions.

Just sign up for a bunch, they're all free!

Dropbox, Box, Skydrive, Google Drive, SugarSync, InSync and a ton of others.

B/t the ones I listed you've got 20+gb of free storage at least.

Quick question...is it best to do a factory rest before such a big upgrade? I think I want to start clean :)

If so what do in have to "dial" to do that? I have my MSL number.

Thanks for any help! Getting excited!!!
