Thanks Samuri, stay tuned....
Rootable, apparently same security, rumor has it a patch to help upgrade to Jelly Bean has been included.
6.7.247 added to Bionic Reference - Terms - Links.
Is 6.7.247 still locked and can it be root-ed?
Still locked and I rooted it.
Whats this all mean for us non tech savvy folk?
When you say patch to help upgrade to JB, do you think this means we will still get ICS but they are preparing for an upgrade soon to JB or do you think they may just skip ahead to JB?
Supposedly its a patch to help get to JB.
So you think we may go straight from GB to JB and skip ICS altogether?
Sources are reporting that this is similar to what .905 was. 905 was a patch to facilitate the upgrade from GB to ICS.
Supposedly .247 was originally going to be a supplemental release to the full ICS build .246, but time was available to incorporate the patch into the full ICS build before it went OTA.
This would appear to me to be an indication that JB is a real possibility for the Bionic.
You think thats why the delayed ICS? Maybe they will just release us JB as a surprise?
I'm wondering why the time stamps on 6.7.247 are now KST (Korean Standard Time).
I was wondering the same thing last night when I took the screen shot as almost all of the others have been in CDT.
*edit* I just posted this somewhere else to see if anyone might have a clue.
Seems to be a diff PC, it says w21529@zkr30lnxdroid18 #1 instead of hudsoncm@il93lnxdroid83 #1 in the Kernel version like the others.
They wont be skipping ics. The existence of these leaks is proof. They are also slow so don't expect jb within 6 months. Frankly, froyo does everything all these other versions do. This hype to get the next version is foolish imo.
... except for one thing ... it has the patch for the 4G data drops that is driving everyone (except us 3G-only people) nuts. There needs to be a "patching mechanism" to apply these more critical patches without waiting 3-6 months for the next big release.
What Google needs to do, if it even can, is take a more Apple-ish approach and handle sending out the updates themselves rather than dealing with the carriers.
It is my understanding that THAT is exactly what is holding everything up currently as they try to come to some new agreements with Verizon. My point was that due to the current way of doing things the ICS release is much more than cosmetic.
You know, I've been wondering if that was the case. I didn't think it could take this long for ICS to be fixed for the Razr's and our Bionic's getting our ICS.
I'll have to disagree, I think everything bad ever said about the Bionic is nullified by ICS.
It's my understanding that Motorola started pushing ICS for Atrix 2 on the 26th and didn't want to do the Bionic at the same time so they did .247 to take care of a small bug and include the patch, but after so many ICS leaks I'm not putting my faith in any rumor. I guess we'll know when it's pushed out.
Isn't the Atrix 2 an AT&T phone though?
Yes but the OTA's are still pushed in stages by Motorola's servers once approved, not by Verizon or AT&T.
The reason I brought it up though is perhaps AT&T doesn't demand as much bloatware or whatever as Verizon and perhaps Google is trying to get Verizon to change some things which wouldn't affect their phones they have on other carriers.
Hey, I have a new theory. Everybody else in the world already has the ICS OTA for Bionic and this is all just a big conspiracy to keep me out of the loop!
Dude. I got the OTA yesterday morning. I thought everyone did. Didn't you all notice the lack of dumb questions from me the last couple days??
Yeah.... just pulling your chain. Still rocking the gingerbread like a sucker...:banghead:
Really........ Froyo, C'mon bro.
Does Froyo support Cisco AnyConnect without rooting?
Gingerbread sure doesn't.
