Help ICS OTA bricked my new unrooted phone. HELP!

SO I was excited to get the update today. It kept dropping halfway through the download, saying it lost the network or something like that, but eventually went through. On the third time restarting it just died and has not been able to come back. No battery pull, no charge light, no hard reset could bring it back. Got the phone may 30th via Verizon, and they say it is dead dead dead and the only thing to do is get a factory refurb. Having gotten 4 factory refurbish in the past when my LAST phone broke due to OTA update problems, this is not what I want. I am beyond frustrated with this situation, as the phone was new, never dropped/damaged, and died due to an update. What can I do

Just out of curiosity...what happens if you pull the battery, then replace the battery, then press and hold volume down while also pressing the power button? If hboot screen comes up, its not dead. If nothing happens, its not good.

Do you have the ability to charge the battery outside of the phone? I'm wondering if the battery died during the update and now won't charge in the phone.

the girl at the store swapped it with a fully charged one and she said the battery was fine. i cant charge the battery without the phone unfortunately, i only have this one phone.

If you can't get to the boot loader, its pretty much a loss. Just be sure that you are holding the power button for up to a few seconds or more while you're constantly holding volume down. If you are already doing this and it still isn't working, I'd take them up on the refurb.

Bummer. It just seems so crappy to give me a refurb when their update bricked the phone that was only two months old. GRRRR.

Yeah I hear you. Definitely a very bad stroke of luck. Almost guessing there was a glitch at the precise moment the radio was updating but we'll never know. Sorry about the loss and the pia that goes with it. If we could fix it, I'd do everything in my power but without hboot , she's a gonner IMO.
