like, for example... all of your browser favorites?

    Write it down on paper.

In all seriousness, there are several apps out there that allow for you to back up everything to your SD card to restore fully after such a wipe. I forget what they are, I'll try to find em for you. Also, the fact that I'm using a Moment means nothing at this point. Ignore that. :)

You have to back them up using a back-up app. Several of them are free on the Android Marketplace. Unfortunately, I haven't found one yet that will reliably save and restore my Scene screens so that I don't have to laboriously enter every icon again. (I'm using various glosses of the Sprint 2.1 leak.)

What about apps that you've paid for? Even when you do a hard reset(thinking about doing cause my phone has been acting wonky) can you just re download them with out paying for them...I never knew how it worked.....

paid apps are tied to your google account. When you sign back into your google account, they'll be available in the "downloads" section of the market (might take a little time for them to sync)

yep - i was thinking about that (thx foodman)

wow, this isn't going to be a "fun" upgrade

i think i'm going to wait for a while after the official patch comes out - see how everybody else does this upgrade - try and make this as painless as possible...

I'm not sure about saving your Sense or browser settings and such, but App Dragon can send you an email of every single application you install on your phone.

Comes in handy for a time like this

My question is, what about my contacts? I use Titanium Backup, will it save my contacts as well?

I bought my Hero and before I put anything in it, I rooted it to Fresh 1.1. I like it, but am tempted to try Fresh 2.0d. My only question is with all the stuff I added after, I don't want to lose some of the settings and apps and numbers i've added... which are NOT tied to my google account.

Contacts are synced with your gmail acct. as long as you have gmail, you will have those contacts backed up

Only in the event that your contacts are Google contacts and not Phone contacts.

This is exactly what I mean. A majority of mine are not gmail contacts, and I would hate to manually enter in a ton of numbers all over again..

I think this is the only thing holding me back from flashing to 2.0d

Everything else I can re-download or have backed up.

I do want to also enable apps2SD this time around so I can get a few more apps. I try to keep myself clear of the 70 app limit/40MB space, and I think this might go a long way in doing that.

Is there an app that backs up contacts as well?

there are apps to make them into google contacts, or apps to export them to excel and then you can import them into gmail, thereby making them google contacts

Or you can use Outlook. Phone contacts will sync with Outlook and vice versa.

well since there were over 9000 new apps added to the market last month alone, I would bet there are apps for all these things. Personally I just redid my bookmarks. It didn't take me as long to do that as it would have if I had spent the time looking for and trying out apps. :)

As for contacts, I had exported them to the sdcard, can't remember what I used for that. I didn't need it though as all my contacts were right there after I booted up the first time.

I thought that when I had to wipe my phone before I rooted that it would be a pain, but it was actually pretty cool to set it all back up. I had fun playing with all my settings and apps and making it even better than it was.[IMG]

I wish I could sync with outlook. Unfortunately I'm running windows 7 and no matter what I have done, HTC sync won't work. I have followed every HTC post and FAQ, but just can't get it to work. Finally gave up and uninstalled in hopes that eventually HTC will just put out a version with the proper driver.

Yeah apps2sd is working great for me with the stock sd card. I have 85 apps currently (and growing without fear). Too get it to work after you flash 2.0d go and wipe every thing. Then go to partition and make a partition for apps (i did mine for 512mb) and a partition for swap files (this is debatable of weather it helps or not-so I just didnt make one) and then it will tell you the rest will be used for storage. Very simple. That was my first try for apps2sd and it was so easy.

And if your contacts are google contacts then you can upgrade without fear of losing them. Google contacts are tied to your google account like your paid apps so when you first boot the rom it will tell you to sign in and aslong as you use the sign in it will be the same.

I'm running 64-bit 7. That's just an excuse; if you insall without futzing around, you can install Sync perfectly fine. I just installed as if it were Vista (64-bit) and every thing was hunky-dorey.

I use a program called "Bookmark Backup & Restore" by happydroid. It backs up your bookmarks to your SD card.
