    Per thread title if sprint release the galaxy s2 and evo3d which would you pick and why ?

    A fair amount of details are already known about the S2 since it has been available in Europe for a couple of weeks. Conversely a fair amount about the senstation is also known though it lacks the 3d feature of the Evo 3d.

    IF I knew more about the SGSII Within that's coming to Sprint, I might be more inclined to consider it. However, I only know about the specs of the EVO 3D, and I need a faster phone. This Samsung Intercept is killing me with lagginess.

    While its starting to look definate that Sprint will release the S2

    Samsung Galaxy S2 US variants get names | AndroidOS.in

    I dont think Sprint will release them near each other.

    Probably a late June/July E3D release and Then August/Sept for the S2

    As to which to choose, if 3D is not something you want it will be a tough decision between these two.

    I own the EVO4G so I would go with the EVO3D. I like how HTC devices are built. Maybe its just me but I like a little weight to the phone along with the specs.

    Right now, I'd say Evo 3D, but I'd give a long hard look at the SGS2, and if it blew me away (and the Evo didn't, to be fair, I'd try both), I wouldn't have any problem switching to the Galaxy.

    I am an HTC fan , almost to a fault, and I really love Sense so it is a no brainer for me. The Galaxy SII is a beast of a device though. Also just a thought here but I wonder how long until HTC sues Samsung for the blatant theft of Pinch to View 7 home screens function?

    I don't think we're going to see the S2 on Verizon or Sprint before Q1 2012. It's not even to AT&T yet!

    If Sprint could confirm it was coming and said "Fall" for instance I would probably try to wait for the SGII. While the 3D is cool, it's not a "needed" feature for me. It will be a cool feature however ;)

    We can speculate all we want but the fact remains the Evo3D will come out first. It will be the first 1.2ghz Dual Core 4.3" qHD phone on the market. If you don't want to wait for a SGII variant to hit your carrier or you prefer HTC products. Go E3D. If you're not in a rush, wait it out.

    Honestly, I don't think we're going to see CDMA SGII variants before the beginning of next year. For goodness sakes Verizon JUST got the Fascinate, what?, a month ago?

    I think the tech attorneys use a dartboard to decide those things. My favorite was the one in 2009 where A+B were suing C while B+C were suing A while A+C were suing B. (over display technology claims, all applying to the new crop of products) I am not making that up. I think they get money from time to time (dunno), but if anything, it gives them bargaining leverage (they all cross-contract with each other) and it certainly gives them something to publicize.

    ~~~~~
    OK - 3dEvo vs. Samsung? HTC.
    I own Sammy TVs and some of their other stuff (way big fan of that stuff), but after my Moment experiences, I'm too gunshy to be trapped by a Sammy phone again. Maybe not entirely reasonable, but after seeing people wait for Froyo with their Epics on Sprint, Samsung is going to have to better this time to convince me to even look at them next time.
    I foresee another round of US variants on the SGS2 with a repeat of last year's debacles while the rest of world just gets to be happy with updates and benefits from SGS2 standardization.
    Seems the 3dEvo's first target was Sprint/CDMA - good enough for me, and it'll be a big step up from my Evo.
    In fact, for the reasons stated, if there were no 3dEvo and I could only choose the Sammy, I'd stick with my Evo until I saw my concerns addressed this go round before I'd seriously look at them.
    I really want dual-core and nifty new features, but I don't absolutely need dual-core and nifty new features.
    Number One thing impressing me on the SGS2 is its blogged battery life - that's what I'd expect of a good 2-core.
    Umm, did you travel back in time??? The Fascinate (as well as all of the other original Galaxy S phones in the US) were released at the end summer/beginning of fall last year. They all just recently got Froyo, but they have been out for almost a year.
    So the SII phones should be out in the same time frame this year, anywhere from July to Sept.
    My apologies, I'm new to the Android world. I made an assumption. :eek:
    I'm still of the opinion that if the CDMA Carriers were going to get them anytime soon there would be more information out than there is currently.
    I'll be honest, as a first time Android buyer I would pick the SGII over the E3D if they were released at the same time. However you can only make decisions on the information you've been given.
    If a CDMA carrier was to hint they would be getting the SGII in September I would wait for it. I don't foresee any such announcement soon however...
    Well, no guarantees - but the SGS is available as the Epic 4G variant on Sprint (slide-out keyboard, that's unique) - so it would be odd if they decided to only have the older Nexus S and Epic single-cores representing Samsung on Sprint this year.
    I'd almost expect an SGS2-class phone on Sprint as a done deal.
    You know what they say about assuming? lol
    About them talking about them yet, no US carrier has been annouced to be getting the SII, though everyone knows they are coming, and to every carrier. There are even names for 3 of the versions (Within being the Sprint version), so they are for sure on the way. There is a Samsung event coming up before the end of the month (5/24), so that could be the official announcement.
    The Fascinate was released on 9/9/10, the Epic was on 8/12/10, and I could definitly see them bringing the SII versions dropping around the same time this year. The yearly refreshes are pretty much standard at this point for all ranges of phones, from the dumbies to the highest end.
    I would say it is a 90 percent chance that we will see it by September at the latest. The names for AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint models have all been outed as you read above (although not official these things generally turn out to be correct) so it shouldn't be too long in the grand scheme of things
    The Indian blog that floated the Within name did ID it as a code name - and said, no telling if that will be the final product name (and jeez, I think Within is a lame name but that's just me).
    Date to release? Uh... wanna buy a bridge? ;) :)
    I'm keeping my E3D pre-order just in case my current phone breaks completely, but honestly if you guys are THAT sure we'll see a S2 announcement soon and a release on Sprint before the end of the year. I'm totally waiting for it... I feel like such a traitor posting that on this forum :eek:
    No worries, mate.
    Better you get our help to choose what you want first rather than regret later.
    So long as it's all Android, it's all in the family.
    Besides, by then, you'll hear so much Samsung hate, you'll change your mind again. ;)
    That's just normal with these sort of things.
    Seriously - this isn't fanboy central, this is our forum. :)
    I'd go Evo 3d.........this phone is just awesome. And with the success of the HTC Evo 4G......coupled with a bigger battery and much powerful we'll take over the world together. MWUHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA............
    Not to say the GSII isn't all that plus thinner.......I just like what I'm seeing from the 3D much more :D
    I got the EVO on release day and will be doing the same with the EVO3D. I have had just about every phone out there and I always go back to my EVO so its about time to have a real upgrade.
    The GalaxyS2 will be released well before the 3D, IMO.
    As someone who was initially dead-set on picking up the 3D, I've now come to assume that its not ready for release. This bugger is being hidden in the basement like a mutant stepchild. The S2 is being flaunted and shipped out like nobody's business.
    Hell even the sensation has been outed and dated, yet not a peep about the 3D's release. I think the S2 will be announced and released before the 3D.
    Just a comment on software update issues. The rumor is (at least with the galaxy S line; don't know about the momentum) is that samsung had the port done early - it was the carries (US carries) that dragged their feet. Now as I said this is a 'rumor' but certainly non-us versions of the phone received updates much faster than US so there is some weight behind the rumor.
    -
    Anyways the thread premise already stated that the phones were released on the same date; so with regards to this thread that is not an option to throw into the works with regards to your decision :)
    (I actually don't know what is going on; i.e, why or if the evo 3d is delayed or when sprint will bring out an s2 and if sprint will go with a keyboard model; though my guess is that it will not have a keyboard).
    My personal view is that the S2 has 3 knowns that I like:
    good battery life
    display that is usable in bright sunlight.
    and so far I've not heard any horrible negatives
    is thin and light.
    -
    The evo3d has one negative I know so far:
    kind of bulky/heavy.
    -
    Obviously I don't have an answer yet to the question for myself but I find other folks comments interesting.
