I'm no doctor but I do believe you have misdiagnosed this patient. It seems he is afflicted with Moremoneythanbrainsibrosis.

I always thought having too much plastic surgery made one look like Michael Jackson.

I think in his old age, he could end-up looking like Davros.

Completely latex and silicone I believe.

    yes.. these people are crazy.
Maybe even have mental issues.. which should be addressed by doctors.

but i want to redirect the attention to the DOCTORS and MEDICAL facilities.. that agree to these STUPID procedures.
it is only GREED that they would agree to take MONEY to do this to another HEALTHY human being's body.

I think there should be some entity that can file lawsuits or make these greedy doctors to be responsible .. for taking advantage of mentally ill individuals.

But where does society interfere with the Doctor/Patient relationship? Is it when a woman comes in for breast augmentation? How about if she comes back because she wants them bigger or smaller? What about facelift surgery? And what about the person that wants it redone? What about a nose job? And what about the doctor who has a patient who's been really messed up by too much plastic surgery and is just trying to make it better?

That's the problem with going down that slippery slope. When you get to the example in the OP I think most people would agree it's gone too far. But where do you put on the brakes? And who gets to decide?

So long as the person has the money to pay for it and there are doctors who want to surgically extract huge sums of money from them, I figure it's a free market, let them be as freaky as they want. As sad as that might be, to me it's still better than some panel of people telling folks what they can and can't do, and trying to lock up doctors for doing "too much."

As has been alluded in the thread, this really is more of a mental health issue, but how do you force someone to seek that kind of help...and again, when do you step in and tell them they need a shrink's approval for more surgery?

I also wonder what state of mind this person would be in, if his requested cosmetic procedures were refused? Would he have gone to less reputable practitioners? Would he have self-harmed? Or worse?
It's definitely a mental issue, but he's probably in a happier state of mind than if treatment had been refused.

I think in many of these repetitive-procedures cases it's a form of OCD, and the compulsion is another procedure. Then it's not too long before the anxiety builds again and the process repeats.

Recovery from OCD takes applied therapy with a motivated patient, and it's challenging, if not impossible, for someone else to get the patient into treatment. So long as he thinks he's fine, there's nothing to break the cycle.

So even as miserable as the OCD patient may be, to them they are often more comfortable with the familiar pain of their condition rather than the fear of the unknown. :(
