Get Out of Your Verizon Contract Without Paying an Early Termination Fee
This doesn't work. You can possibly Exchange for a different VZW phone if you complain enough. No one here has reported that they got out of their contract over this.
I think the only way you could do it is call and say you want to cancel the contract then when they say something about the EFT reference the fee change. I've seen reports that people calling and asking about the fee change first are getting $0.03 credits monthly.
You would also need to be prepared to stand firm in canceling and not accepting no for an answer.
yeah then 2 hours later after talking to 50 different people and saying the same thing over and over again. Make sure u don't change ur story either. Then maybe this could work.
I love my Thunderbolt.
Now if I had a Charge..
I was able to get out of the contract using the regulatory fee as a reason, when I told the rep about that, she knew right away what I was talking about and tried to talk me into a 3g replacement because I can't get any of the new 4G phones. After standing my ground and telling her I wanted out of my contract, she put m on hold and came back later and with tech support online and told me I can get the Charge, which they sending out today.
So yes, you can get out of the contract and go with another carrier. I decided to stay because I have the family plan and me and my wife share the minutes, plus I'm still locked in on the unlimited data.
I'm just selling it lol
Yea, Id do that. I don't think it will be as easy as people make it sound. I had a near impossible time getting just a free upgrade price discount when I had to return the X 4 different times...they weren't budging. And I complained how they kept sending refurbs, and it was BS they sent me 4 phones...and I'm not a "there's light bleed" or "yellow spot on the camera" type complainer. they were actual internal speaker issues where I was forced to use speakerphone.
i hate calling Verizon customer service. they suck. i have more luck going into the stores.
Well it is easier to be a tough guy on the phone vs in person. Unless its something small that cust care can take care of, I always prefer talking to someone face to face. You cant deny an issue when its staring you in the face..
Turns out that I had another line I forgot about haha . Using that to upgrade tomorrow to something else.
I think opposite from experience. I always get what I want from VZW via phone. It is one on one. When you go into the store anything comes up, a whole gang of employees start ganging up on you.
That is why I hate going to the store for issues now a days.
I will simply sell my phone. I'm up for contract renew in December, ill sell my thunderbolt for $200 that should cover my new cost I love my phone unlike most here but I want the Bionic very badly
Just got Verizon to send me brand new charge instead of a cert like new coming from tbolt.
i love my TB. i think its pretty silly to "upgrade" to somethin else now. only other 4g choice is the charge
IMO the TB is the best thing vzw has out right now. 3rd and 4th quarters might be a different story
I'm going to give 4G a chance to grow before I cine back to it. I need better battery performance
Yeah, I would just go with the sell your phone option and get another smartphone, it's cheaper and a LOT let hassle.
On a side note, I'm still within my 14 days on my TB and I'm still confused why people like the charge so much more. My dad event went into the Verizon store yesterday and swapped his iphone 4 for a TB because he liked mine as much as I do.
I'm not a fan of Samsung in general. So far the only Android phone manufacturer that hasn't given me trouble is Motorola. I'm hoping the Droid 3 will be better.
The only other phone I'd consider Is the DInc 2. I love Sense, and HTC. Hope the reboots are fixed very soon.
im not a fan of samsung, either. friend of mine had the charge and sent it back it was slow and laggy, and in general didnt work very well for him. if developer support picks up,it could be a good phone, but has less internal memory than the TB.
hope youre happy with that stock droid 3 lots of tweets yesterday about it having a locked bootloader, despite motorolas claims to be more developer friendly.
I never saw the big deal in the locked bootloader. The X had one, but I had a whole directory on my SD card with great ROMs. I liked Moto's Gingerbread rendition of blur too too. It wasn't very restrictive at all. As long as I can root at some point to remove bloat and take screenshots I'm good.
