I got my card before I got the phone, but was having problems with it. It would fail to format on most attempts(no matter what device I was using to format it), I would get a message on my phone that the card was damaged, and it would have trouble mounting. I sent it back to the seller and they confirmed it was defective. Then I got an interesting email from the seller stating something like this: your replacement order has been delayed. Sandisk has been experiencing a higher than normal return rate on their 64gb cards and has recalled a part of their inventory. They will be replacing the defective units with working ones. Expect a delay of about a week.

So anyone experiencing problems may want to contact their seller or Sandisk directly to see if you are part of the recall. I know others on xda were having similar problems but didn't know anything about the recall. Thought I would post here to pass along the info I received.

Thank you for your post. I too have a Sandisk 64gb micro sdxc card and so far have not have any problems. I may check into this with Sandisk just to be safe. Hope you get a non-defective 64gb card soon!

This is very, very similar behavior to what I experienced with my sandisk card, only mine is a 32.

I got one today. Although my Galaxy SIII phone does not recognize the card, I still can copy file to and from my computer. Any solutions? Thanks

Sandisk bought from a non-reputable source aka merchants on ebay and amazon are always and I mean always knock-offs. My 64gb sandisk class 10 has been working great but was bought from you guessed it...sandisk. In China they would fake their own mothers if they could.

My 64Gb came from Amazon direct.

Works fine in the phone, but it plays up when in windows - sometimes doesn't show all the contents, is slow, disappears.. tried on 3 machines so far and it does the same thing.

Last time I buy one of their products, for my camera I use Transcend stuff which is cheap and works superbly.

I've had two 64GB Sandisk class 10 cards that I've returned now. I'm now waiting for them to fix their quality control before ordering another one.

I guess it's possible that they were fakes, but the first time was from an Amazon marketplace seller who Amazon were selling through (i.e. eligible for free delivery or prime), and the second one was from Amazon directly.

I guess the only way to be sure would be to buy from Sandisk directly. I would buy a Samsung card if they did microSDXC.

I heard from my friend (therefore cannot confirm) is that among the SIIIs, some kernels recognizes MicroSD 64GB, while others do not. Is this true, and does anybody has a list of supported kernels that supports MicroSD 64GB?

From what I understand Microsoft has a patent on exfat and must have a deal with sandisk, anyhow you need to fomat the 64GB drive to FAT:32 and unless you use mac or linux it will be hard in windows.

    Here are some directions:

Hit yours start button and type cmd/Enter

Type the following into your cmd box (right click to paste it in cmd):
Format /fs:FAT32 DRIVE: where DRIVE is the Letter of your drive.

Once you confirm the operation you will see information stating what the current Filesystem is and that it will be changed to FAT32. BUT THEN... It will format the card and then verify it which WILL a while

I've got a SGS3 and Sandisk Ultra MicroSCXC 64GB and I have problems too. The phone claims there's something wrong with the card. Noen of my Win7 64-bit PCs will format it. Neither will the phone. But I'll try the "DOS" method provided by Digiscaper. My retailer has already sent me a replacement card that will arrive probably tomorrow so I'll see how it goes. So far formatting is at 0%...

I had problems with a SanDisk 64 GB microSD card--it initially let me copy a few files onto it, but then said it was write protected (it wasn't). I tried formatting it in the phone, in my computer with Windows, and with the SD Formatter utility, but it wouldn't format.

I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, but a replacement worked fine--just popped it in the phone, no formatting or anything.
