after almost 2 months of use. im starting to get frustrated with the bugs on the moment. its getting annoying. does anyone feel the same? some things arent implemented that just annoy the crap out of me. like if the phone is not on a call the proximity sensor should lock the screen and the home button should wake the screen not the end button. lets not forget the many bugs that should be worked out. i officially have buyers remorse.

Personally, I like the wake-up being the end button, much easier for me to tell if I pressed it and of course not accidentally press it. I wouldn't want the prox sensor just locking the phone either, I like the inactivity timeout.

But to each their own, that's why they make lots of phones. My moment has been great for what android 1.5 can do. Only bug for me is the battery meter quirk, but I've long learned to just use it as a general guage for now. It's too bad that you are probably past your exchange period cause it's hard to live with a phone you are not happy with.

my prob with the end button is that sometimes a call comes in and the screen lags to wake up. without thinking i try to wake it up and i just hang up. sometimes its 2 rings before the screen shows whose calling. the screen time out its standard for any phone but if it locked by proximity it would greatly reduce pocket dialing. i mean if you're not on a call and the phone has proximity its in your pocket. i don't see a reason why you would have it to your face if the phone app is off. unless you're trying to massage your face with the screen.
i don't mean "you" as a reply but "you" as in a general user. i was happy with the phone at first but things just keep piling on its getting ridiculous.

I've had mine a week and I kept my Instinct which I keep switching between because of the battery issue possible stranding me at my job. The thins I don't like about the phone is 1 the phone book. I hate to have to push 4 different buttons to call someone. and 2 the email sucks why cant I delete more than one email at a time. Then when I do delete them the go into the trash and show up as new emails WTF.

And I do believe you can change the wake up sequence in the setting menu under security & location then set unlock pattern.

I thought with Android, that anybody would be able to make apps and change the code that makes the phone work. Why can't someone make something that prevents the phone from doing anything as long as the proximity sensor is activated?

Also, if you guys get an app called Spare Parts, you can change what the End key does. I'm surprised that Spare Parts can change deep stuff like this but nobody else has done the same.

And also, one of the worst things about this phone is the lag. I listen to music and browse the web together 90% of the time I'm on the phone. Every time I get a text message, the phone freezes and I can't do anything for 10 seconds or more. Phone calls are worse. Sprint takes 2 rings from the caller before it gets to my phone. After that, if I'm using the phone, it starts vibrating for a few more seconds before the ringer goes off. Finally, it takes 5 more seconds for the caller ID to show up and by that time the caller has hung up.

most of these are just 1.5 quirks and buggs.

I'll admit the end key wake up is annoying, but I am so uesd to mashing end key with WM phones that I always hitting the damn button and putting it to sleep.

I just deal with it, my prox sensor works great.

Bound to happen, even if there are no problems with the phone. Most people fall in love with a new gadget, and then after living with it for a while, yearn for something else. Has happened with the iPhone, and with almost all other phones.

Me? I'm still loving my Samsung Moment every day. I'm starting to take some of the features for granted. But if you take away my Samsung Moment and give me another phone, I'll be crying out loud in sadness.

Delete your email account from your phone and set it up again to get rid of what's there. Then just don't delete your email (unless your phone is the only place you get your email from). When you receive your email, from whatever computer you normally get it from, the email on your phone will disappear.

The things that you listed that annoy you are actually things that I like. That just goes to show you that you cannot make everyone happy. The Droid is the same way if you look through that forum..."I wish it did this"..."why can't I do that?"

I do agree that there are some huge bugs that should have been fixed before the phone was released (battery meter, GPS for instance), but they will be fixed in due time. Any gadget that I have ever bought that was hyped up left me with a sense of "now what?", including the Moment. I still like it though.

The phone book is a bit clunky. No T9 dialing either except for 3rd party, and those have been very slow. You can download Quick Dial. Creates one touch dialing icons that you can use on a home screen or throw in a live folder.

I'm not too happy with email. Can't move things to folders like you can with the Hero, win mobile, palm and so on. You do need to stop deleting emails while it's syncing because it will throw them back on. Wait till it's finished syncing, then delete. A nice checkbox on the left side to do a group delete or move or what not. Yahoo's mobile mail used to have an option to do mass deleting. It was one extra step, but it was beteter than not having it at all.

It'll be interesting to see if 2.x will add some refinement to things. I'm all for customization and 3rd party apps, but it'd be nice if the native OS could do some things out of the box many are used to from using other smartphones as well as dumbphones.

People complain I don't see the beauty in the OS with the ability to customize when I say that, but there's certain things you shouldn't have to rely on 3rd parties to develop, that should be native for a strong out of the box experience.

There's also some slide to unlock programs out there like Lock 2.0 that I prefer to hitting the Menu button.

Some of the bugs annoy the hell out of me too but like already said, The grass is always greener on the other side. Every phone out there has annoying bugs. You lose one here but gain one there. You just have to pick the phone with the bugs that least effect you.

all i see here is folks who are more understanding but everyone has a threshold. 2 months and these bugs are not getting worked out is pretty unacceptable. i share the same "its new so lets forgive" attitude. after a while i feel like sprint is taking me for a ride. it scares me more that this phone gets treated like a ugly stepchild.

"there's certain things you shouldn't have to rely on 3rd parties to develop, that should be native for a strong out of the box experience."

out of the box experience is 3 out of 10.

ill be calling sprint again and letting them book me for some complains. i wonder if they will tell me its going to get fixed in the next half year.

for the screen not waking up issue, try shake awake. i have the same problem too ending calls because i just forget, hopefully android 2.1 will address most if not all the issues. We have to remember that android is still a baby. its still being polished, however that is no excuse for sprint and samsung. theyre just way behind.=( one big peeve that i have is the location issue, in google maps, its supposed to find my location not with gps but triangulating my signal with the cellphone towers, I have excellent reception where i live but for some reason it says im in the coast of africa, haha I live in california. Whats up with that?

Some of the bugs you listed are not bugs.

Making the end button to put the phone to sleep & waking it again makes sense, rather than having 2 separate buttons to sleep / wake the phone.

This phone is still relatively new, I don't expect nightly or weekly updates from Samsung for this phone. Blackberry / Treo didn't have as frequent updates either.

    Silly expectations, imho.

I don't think you realize how many times the phone would lock if it used the prox sensor. Your fingers would set it off all the time.
A good way to prevent pocket dialing is by locking before pocketing.

I love the moment, dont get me wrong but some of these bugs are killing me. I was charged 18 international text messages and i know i have not texted anyone out of the country. I was able to get the messages credited to my account however i fear i will be going trough this everymonth until an update is released. Another problem i am having is aGPS. which once again i have to wait for an update. And my biggest concern is the battery life. I know the battery meter is off but i can not get through a whole day with gps,wi-fi,and bt turned off. This is unacceptable

Iknow blackberry has good battery life and doesnt have all these bugs. They are reliable because they have been around for so long.

I will miss all the apps and the touch screen but i need something more reliable than what the moment is offering. I have until jan 31 to return the moment to best buy so i will give it a few more weeks but i am very unhappy with the bugs it presently has.

Has anyone else thought about returning it?

me!the notification suck,no way to see if you missed a call, message,v.mail etc...
everytime you plug it in you get the same notification tune and that gets old...
the 4 push call thing kinda blows...
was thinking about the hero, but does it have the same problems as i listed?might have to go down and play with it some more.i think i might only have another week!!

Personally most of the things anyone lists here as "bugs" are merely part of a learning curve. Most people are used to another phone and they grab an Android based phone and want a bunch of new things, but want everything else to be exactly like it was.

You buy a new car and things work differently. One may accelerate slower but corner better.

This phone out of the box does everything Sprint claims it does. Maybe your expectations are where the problem lies.

i respect the opinions posted here. its not mere coincidence that i tittled this thread " im falling out of love with my moment" . theres a couple of absurd comments on here that remind me of a girl defending a boyfriend that beats her. this phone has MAJOR bugs and sprint and samsung are slow stepping that cannot be disputed. moreover its true some things are mere bugs ,others however are not so insignificant. i dont have to make my case theres a thread for every problem people are having. i just wanted to see the ratio of people getting fed up to those that are still in a abusive relationship with the moment. angry people protest and complain, that usually gets things done but as long as people are ignoring these bad bugs we're not going to get better service. i dont really care if its shiny and it has buttons, all phones do. ive had this phone for 2 months and the honey moon is over, sprint has to step it up.

MAJOR bugs? Hmm I can still use my phone pretty much the same way since the first day I got it. No MAJOR bugs here.

No, he's a realist. I agree with him fully.

I think most of the negative comments are due to unrealistic user expectations of a first gen Android phone at Sprint. As a user of many many smart phones, from Blackberries to Palm to iPhone, my expectations are realistic and I think this phone is definitely the best smartphone I've ever used.

Why don't you go get a new phone that's much better? I doubt you'll find one. Every other forum here that I visit, from the Eris to the Droid, and to other forums like the iPhone, there are many whiners and complainers about each phone. I have yet to see a perfect phone without any complainers.

Since you're unhappy I suggest you give your Samsung up and move on. Life is too short to stick to something you don't like. Good luck finding something else better.
