Hello. I am looking for a way to know dimensions of images in browsers like Android Chrome, Samsung Internet.

Is it possible with certain app through share function so information appears over the top or at least with certain plugin for Samsung Internet?

Thanks

@puppykickr What is uptodown site? Why you don't link to Google Play?

UpToDown is the second largest appstore.

I despise Google, and refuse to use their sites.

Google Play Store is the single largest purveyor of spyware, malware, and adware.

Also, adblocking apps are against Google TOS, so the version you may get from there may not have the adblock feature.

I trust UpToDown more than Google, but I dont trust Google at all.

UpToDown scans their apps with the same methods as most others.

Anything from F-Droid is safe because of how they recompile each app submitted from scratch.
This is unique to F-Droid, and ensures app integrity.

I get apps from F-Droid first, then UpToDown, and last but not least from ApkPure.

The vast majority of the apps that I use are blocked from the internet with a firewall.

Not only does this prevent ads, but is a great additional security.

I longer recognized Google Store the way it was before once I downloaded free apps that displayed ads almost every time I performed an action. Be it using network tools app to scan network or measuring magnetic field etc. These ads ruin experience. I didn't download games but I suspect there are a lot of junk games to show ads.I haven't encountered spyware and malware though because I didn't download games. Only the necessary apps.

If more people will be using apps outside of Google Play then there will be less incentive to develop good apps. Google Play definitely has changed. Once it had a lot of developers putting efforts in maintaining their apps.

Actually, no.
The developers of apps that are only on Google tend to be the type that I don't want to deal with.

The devs that deal with F-Droid are some of the best you can ask for.

Uptodown is sort of a combination of both.

What I mostly meant by spyware is the Google 'services' that most apps provided by the Play Store have imbedded.

These send your info to Google and God knows where else.

Games were once notorious for ads, malware, and spyware, but now that crap is even in basic utility apps.

A firewall can be very useful in blocking internet access to apps that don't need it.

If internet access is needed, but blocking of individual connections is desired, then something like Tracker Control can be used.

IzzyOnDroid v0.5 can be obtained from https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/in.sunilpaulmathew.izzyondroid

I assume by individual connections you mean things like pulling data from official database, uploading results, downloading updates, calling home, serving ads? So if I wanted to block ads service I would block that specific individual connection that serves ads?

Yes, exactly.
Tracker Control allows you to not only block or allow internet connection like a firewall, but also you can allow and disallow individual internet access of the app at the level of particular connections.

For instance- you have an app that needs the internet to work.
It draws ads from one or more sources.
You can block just those sources, while leaving the necessary connections active.

@puppykickr Hello. I have noticed Facebook becoming more and more controlling to the point that it recently started forcing to use their Messenger app for chat which I don't want to at all. I know there's Facebook Lite but it's not exactly like their main app.

Do you know if there's a modified version of main Facebook app that allows you in-app messaging and is clean of unecessary stuff inside the app aka decrapified? Like Windows decrapified of telemetry and unecessary background services that consume resources and send your data to Microsoft.

The closest thing that I have found is called Frost.

It works.
But it can be clumsey compared to the Facebook/Facebook Lite apps.

However, it does take the place of Messenger, at least for the most part.

It allows both Facebook and Messenger to be accessed with one single app.

Compared to the original apps, some features are added, and others are missing.

Myself, I use a combination of Frost, Messenger Lite, and accessing Facebook with my browser.

I have found Facebook LC Reborn on XDA and thought maybe you heard of it. I don't know if it is on any Android repository. If it is not, should I be careful putting trust in developer?

https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-mod-facebook-lc-reborn-lcr.4420057/

At the last page of thread there's user TheCanine with uploaded Messenger Lite Dark.apk but there is no hash data provided for file integrity check. Don't know if it is on any repository as well but when people freely upload APKs outside of repository it gets me uncomfortable.

Frost is on F-Droid, which has an impeccable reputation.

Too bad it is no longer maintained. I will have to keep looking:

"This project is no longer actively maintained. I still use it, but I've largely been off of Facebook for years. Bugs relating to logins are region dependent, and web wrappers don't have stable APIs, so please use at your own discretion."
