I have been looking for a pair of in-ear headphones with mic+music control for my HTC Desire way too long.
I was using Ultimate Ears Metro Fi. 150vi but they broke after using 6 months. The mic in 105vi has a button which works for changing the track, play/pause as well as receiving a call and ending. I was going to buy another pair of Ultimate Ears but found so many people complaining about thier durabillity online. Then I bought a pair of Altec Lansing but none of the buttons work. Looks like everything is made for apple.

I have been checking out Meelectronics, Zagg Smartbudds, Skull Kandy et al. websites and asking the reps about the compatibility with Android. No one can answer me clearly.

I live in Australia and planing to buy them from usa since almost nothing can be found in Australia. So I cant buy a pair to try and then return them. I have to be very sure before I buy anything. So please let me know if you have found something that works. Thanks in advance.

try Skullcandy FMJ they have excellent sound output and have a mic also controls for music
i however have SoundMagic PL11 they have no mic but i use it for mainly music as they produce some beastly bass and treble

The Zagg smartbuds are pretty good. They're an in-ear headphone with multiple size buds to fit your own ear. Great quality the cord is wrapped in their invisible shield so it doesn't tangle as easy as well. Mic is great quality however it lacks a music control. There is a volume control on the cord and a nifty little ball tool that allows you to fit it snugly around your neck and such.

Eh? Beats are not actually that good they are just over priced and over hyped nothing special.
brands like sennheiser and shure usually do good with head/earphones
