In regards to the combined root subforums (some used to be broke by carriers, now combined)

Do you prefer Carrier prefix, or current (rom, resource, kernel etc) prefixes for device root forums

All concerned with this, please do the following:

1. See this response on it.
2. Please vote on this poll giving your preference. PLEASE ONLY VOTE WITH THOSE RECENTLY AFFECTED FORUMS IN MIND.

In short: For 25 out of our 1250+ devices (albeit clearly the 25) the root subforums were broke into carrier subforums. They have now been combined with [carrier] edited into the titles of the threads that were in said forums, all into one root forum.

The problem this presents, is now someone only interested in Verizon for example, has to weed though all threads and pages to find relevant stuff.

The current prefixes of "rom", "kernel" etc are still there, those are clickable and therefore filterable.

To me, this feels backwards. No one will want to filter on Rom or Kernel by clicking those (as much) since they are now pulling results from all carriers.

So I present this. Should we flip this. Make the actual system prefixes be carrier prefixes, so one could click and filter by "verizon" or "international" or whatever the case may be, and instead ask people put [rom] [kernel] etc in the title of the thread instead.

There are 2 problems with this approach.

1) we will then constantly be figuring out if we should bother with adding carriers to devices. Again, right now its only 25 forums. Then, we have to keep track of what for what forum.

2) It would make less sense to do this across the board. 95% of root forums don't break across carrier and shouldn't, so then it would lose consistency going forward for which to do with what forums.

But, please vote with what you would prefer, so I know. Also, feedback with other solutions welcome. "search this forum", etc.

Searching forums is already abysmally hard enough. Please make sorting information as granular as possible. The more non-pertinent information we can opt out of in a search, the less times members will have to be aggravated by having to re-post something a bazillion times as people ask for it over and over ad nauseam simply because they can't find it on their own.
