My camera has worked great form day one but when I went to use the camcorder today it will not start the timer. When I press the screen to start the recorder it beeps like I am trying to capture a photo but nothing else happens. Please help, don't know what to do!

You may not have enough free space on wherever you are trying to save the video.

I have an HTC Droid Incredible and was also experiencing this madness.

    My experience was exactly this:
    1) Turn on camcorder app. Timer is displayed in upper right corner.
    2) Press optical joystick button to start recording. Timer disappears,
live view through the lens is there, but app is unresponsive.
    3) Press the home key one or more times to exit app.
    4) 'mediaserver' service runs the CPU hard until the battery dies.
    5) Power cycle the phone to get rid of it (didn't know how to otherwise
    kill it).

I found the following in the Sprint forum (sorry guys):

Sprint Community: HTC EVO Update - Camcorder not working...

This worked for me. In fact, I didn't even go through all the steps, but
to record a voice message, then delete it. After that, the camcorder
    worked with no problems whatsoever!

This is a really benign thing to try. It scares me when I see other people
suggesting heavy-hammered approaches like factory resets or formatting
of storage. I hope it helps somebody out there.

*Bonus takeaway: this problem is not isolated to the DINC.

Wow, what a random solution. Great to know though, thanks for posting it.
