Not bad. Keep in mind that this does not include any manufacturing costs, development costs, or any costs related to supporting the device afterwards (like paying software engineers to port Sense over to Froyo for us).

Edit: Something neat to note. The touch hardware can support up to ten touches, if only the software would support it.

What's interesting is that the display on the Incredible is listed as being more expensive than the display on the iPhone 4.

Because that's how much HTC sets the price for...

The Materials cost $165.35, there's still labor, shipping, development, QC/A costs, marketing etc...and HTC needs to make a profit.

And that's before Verizon's expenses (and profit).

I want to know how Apple gets off charging $30 for a bumper case that costs them < $3? (rhetorical question...I know the answer. One reason I'm on an android forum with my Compaq laptop :) )

With a minimum order of 150,000, you probably could get those per-unit prices :)

I only hope we can buy the digitizer and screens soon for fairly cheap. iPhone digitizers are like $10. Since that is what will break on our phones, we need the ability to buy them cheaply.

Most of the expense sheet teardowns at Ifixit.com are very informative but I once saw on a program that manufacturing a pencil cost less than a penny then it gave a hilarious montage of someone chopping down a tree, mining graphite, cutting down rubber trees and hammering out tin to make the most hideous writing utensil you could imagine!

Captain: Catalyzer is a nothing part, Captain.
Mal: It's nothing 'til you don't got one. ...

I sure would like to be able to get my hands on a replacement external speaker since mine sounds like marbles in a tin can!

Completely aside from the design, engineering, QA, etc. that went into the hardware, do you know how much good software developers get paid?
