    Hey all

i'm new to the root/rom/kernel game but since researching more and more i want to do more and more to my stock Evo.

As of now, i have rooted with the newest Unrevoked and got a bunch of tools like rom manager, titanium, Autostarts, etc.

Now i'd like to try flashing... but not necessarily a new rom. Just a different kernel than stock if possible.

    So my questions are...

-Can you just flash a new kernel to the stock 2.2 froyo rom.
-If so, which are recommended? Right now i think i want to experiment with some UV ones to try to figure out how to get longer battery life.
-i read that P3Droid are supposed to be good for battery conservancy... but which one? their site P3Droid Kernels has a bunch to choose from and im not quite sure which would be good for me.
My SetCPU autodetected that my max cpu freq is 998k, so am i safe in just getting the one set to max 1000 from P3D. What min? low voltage or standard voltage?

    thanks in advance

    also in addition,

if i flash a new kernel do i still have to disable perflock on setCPU after every reboot?
