Help Initial Battery Charge

Hey Guys,

I just got my new phone, Samsung Galaxy S and I love it already. Now, I'm not sure how long to charge it, it came with a small percentage of battery life (40-50%) but I'm not sure how long to let it charge for now.

Do I wait till it says full or do I leave it for like 6 hours as instructed to do with other phones etc. I heard something about leaving a phone to charge longer for the initial charge is better?

Please advise - thanks :)

Go to market and download "Quick Settings", turn off things you don't use normally like "GPS", "Wifi" and set your screen to low or auto.

Ok thanks I will do and can this be right, been using the phone since 15:00 till about now pretty much constant and the battery is already down by 74%, that can't be right?!?

With the new lithium batteries you no longer need to fully charge them before using them. But the manufacturers prefer to leave the instructions in just in case.

there doesnt seem to be any definative guide as to how to properly charge one's battery. everyone has a different opinion and im not saying any of them are wrong, im just saying its hard to know which one will be best.

My galaxy Battery is toast and have ordered another but would really be great for an expert to give us an idea on what is best or even how a battery works.
