OK, I finally have 4.3 downloaded and ready to install .. BUT I have yet to read of anyone who's actually had good experiences with it! All I've seen are people tearing their hair out with all kinds of problems

So my question is: has ANYONE had good experiences with 4.3 or would the smart thing be to just ignore the update and wait for 4.3.1

Yeah - that's the post that I read right before posting this - the one that broke the camel's back :D

Does look like Google dropped the ball on this one - I don't recall seeing anwhere near so many issues with the 4.2.2 update. Also, the latest maps and play music updates have been a bit of a mess - though I personally haven't had issues with maps.

    What's happening with Google

I agree, the 4.3 update is a bad idea. Even after sorting out most (but not all) of the things broken by the update I can unequivocally say that if I could rewind time I would not have let the update go ahead knowing what I know now.

That said it does seem a little slicker than 4.2.2 in normal use, but the improvement is marginal and doesn't come close to making up for all the grief it has already caused me - and that still isn't over. Bad.

I'm having zero problems with 4.3. I'd install it. Worth it for the storage handling improvements (TRIM) alone.

I have it for a few days now and I've only had good experiences with the new update. Noticed better battery life, touch responsiveness and smoother scrolling. Overall I'm very happy with the update.

No problems here, 4.3 running perfectly for me, tho i am stock and not rooted so not sure if thats going in my favor lol.

Edit - in the last 5 mins i have discovered i can no longer charge my phone from the usb port in my laptop at work. It was fine before the update, it did charge, just very slowly however now i get no charge but the phone is still connected to the pc properly. Not really a big deal but the only difference i have noticed so far.

I guess im one of the lucky ones that didn't run to many problems after updating to 4.3

Only problem i had was trying to install a custom recovery but it was a problem on my pc.

Some apps are not compatible with 4.3 or they have some lag but they are being updated to work with 4.3 (Atleast the ones i use the most are running fine)

I also notice better battery life and smother scrolling, but that's IMO. im happy with the update, i will stay stock rooted on 4.3 for now, until CarbonRom or CM releases a stable build.

I'm running a stock non rooted N4 on 4.3 with no major issues.
Only thing that is playing up every now and then is my Chrome browser not loading straight away.

    Not an issue so far.

Other than an issue with Netflix which has been tied to the update, mine is working fine. And my Nexus 10 with 4.3 does not have the netflix issue... Go figure

4.2.2 was a very minor update from 4.2.1. When 4.2 first came out it broke a few apps just like 4.3. It's not necessarily Google's fault that apps aren't compatible with their new OS. The app devs will catch up, but it takes a little while. As far as I know Mxplayer and VLC have been patched to work with 4.3 now, but Netflix is still causing crashes. I also have minor glitches here and there with Lightflow and Nova Launcher.

I installed an AOSP JSS15J ROM last night and can confirm the delayed wifi notifications are fixed. My phone is also running much cooler than it did on JWR66V, which can either be attributed to the newer kernel in JSS15J or placebo.

If you desire a safe and stable experience where everything just works I'd stay on 4.2.2 for now and check back in a week after devs have time to patch their apps. If you want the nice features in 4.3 and don't mind the occasional bug I'd say jump right in.

I just flashed it a few hours ago...lost root, but I flashed that also & got it back.
It's too soon for me to notice anything bad...I haven't so far.

If you do upgrade to 4.3, don't update your Maps...from all I've read...it's nothing but problems.

Maps has caused me no problems whatsoever... unlike lots of other things. I suspect that stock unrooted users will have few problems (unless they use nice apps like MX Player - grrr!) but many apps relying on root access are more problematic.

No problems here at all with 4.3 on either my Nexus 4 or 7.

I'm on 4.3 now and made the mistake of updating maps this afternoon. Nav has now disappeared!!

I bit the bullet and installed an unofficial CM10.2 build today, things seem to be going alright.

Yep. Google merged them because there is no reason to have two separate mapping apps.

I'd say no. Too many apps don't work for me under 4.3. Wish I hadn't updated.

Thanks for your feedback, peops :adore:

I'm holding off for the minute: obviously, people who are happy are hardly likely to be posting too much, but I'm seeing way too many people with problems to risk an update, particularly when it doesn't appear to do that much - a slight performance enhancment and a maybe a little extra battery life: my phone's quick enough and battery is fine :D

All works well for me. Better battery and more buttery, painless for me.

Only issue is that some apps (mx player eg) doesn't work. But once they've updated, then all will be well again
