Hello, first of all i wanna say that im new to this, and i know there are alot of threads about this. I've tried to solve my problem by reading other threads, but i can't seem to get it to work...
Anywho, ive rooted my phone with "Unrevoked3" and im wondering what i need to do to be able install the apps on the sd card.

Ive tried to set the default install location to the sd card by using the command prompt (adb shell pm setinstalllocation 2)

I'm lost, would appreciate help with this!

    Yours

the setinstall location is a NON rooted solution.

You need apps2sd. See the FAQ in my sig.

Yes, but can't he still use the "setinstall" solution (even when rooted)?

Of course but since its a crap solution compared to those that are available once rooted and that these solutions are often the main reason desire owners root, would it not be a complete waste to not use them and stick with the dirtier, less useful, less space saving, can't-move-all-apps setInstallLocation trick?!

Well i read your FAQ and everything, i've learned much much more, thanks!

But i still wonder if i have done it all correctly.
What i have done so far:

    Rooted (unrEVOked3)
Partition my sd card using ROM Manager
Installed a ROM (atm HTC Froyo 2.2 ROM)

Now the apps seem to use a little space on the phones memory (which it should) and it uses some space on the sd card. But i can't use this on every app. This i find kinda troubleing, any suggestions?

And another thing, i couldnt get Gparted to work for some reason... I've read some step-by-step guides how to install it properly, but my english skills isnt perfect...
Anyway, according to the guide i tried to follow you have to burn a ISO file of Gparted which i successfully downloaded but i can't seem to get it to boot properly. I would appreciate some help with this aswell, or another solution how to format your SD-card. I don't think ROM Manager is the best way to format your SD-card.

Anyway, hope you can help me and thanks in advance!

    Yours
    Richard

What rom (link please) did you flash? did it say a2sd? What do you mean you cant use it on every app? You dont use anything on any app with this method.

Without the rom having A2SD activated you are no better off than you were before you rooted. You mention a HTC rom - almost definitely that will not have 'proper' A2SD. I think there are rooted A2SD stock roms, otherwise LeeDroid is pretty close to stock. Just make sure you pick the A2SD version.

Also, with this 'proper' A2SD you leave your apps on the phone (don't touch them at all) - they are actually on the card, the phone is just fooled into thinking they are still in internal memory.

Quick system info is a useful tool in telling you what memory you really have and are using.

First of all i reflashed my phone with this ROM
    [ROM] CyanogenMod-7 for Desire GSM V7.0.0-RC1 (17/02/2011) - xda-developers
It does now install the apps i download directly on the sd-card but it seems like it keeps taking some space on the internal memory aswell. Can't you install the whole app on the sd-card (i know that some doesnt work if you do that)
What i ment by "i cant use it on every app" is that i can't use the "move to sd" button that you can find under applications in settings... Anyway don't worry about that anymore.

Yea i thougt about that aswell, the rom was trying to read the cd when i was starting my pc, but it dint find something, so i must have burned it wrong. If you could help me with a little step-by-step guide (or link) that would be awesome. I think i've downloaded the right file, and what i'm not sure how to do is burning it correctly onto the cd. Currently im using Nero, but if you used another program, it doenst matter. I just need to know a way that works :p
    Peace

I have the link to what ROM im using 2 posts up.
Anyway, i think it comes with A2SD+ atleast A2SD, but im not 100% sure...
Anyway, so isn't the space shown under "settings\applications\used space" show you the true amount of space you have on your internal memory?

You have to flash dark tremor a2sd separately from cm7
