Root Installed GPS fix, but GPS still not working?

Hi all,

I recently installed the GPS fix when rooting my phone for Deck 1.3. However, it doesn't appear to be working, at least not in Google Maps. This is what I used:

Any ideas?

FYI, I installed the GPS fix after GRapps, as recommended in:

Thanks.

i thought i seen that there are like 4 different drivers..if this is so,i would try each one until i found one that worked..

Ok, thanks. Would I need to reinstall everything, or just apply the new ROM right over the top? Would I need to uninstall the previous driver/ROM?

Just flash different drivers until you find one that works. In the XDA thread for Deck Gingerbread 1.3, a couple people swear by flashing the GB driver and then the Qualcomm Driver. I've never had any issues with just flashing the Qualcomm driver though, it always locks on immediately for me. Granted if you're inside or maybe on a really cloudy day it might have trouble pinpointing your exact location, but it should work really well. (In theory)

Weird. Still nothing after a few more GPS driver flash tries. Maybe I'm flashing it wrong? I'm assuming you flash from SD card, select the zip, confirm, and then just reboot, right? Do I need to "fix permissions" as one driver indicated?

Make sure you are wiping the cache and the dalvik cache prior to flashing. I really don't run AOSP roms but you should always at least do this prior to flashing anything on top of a rom.
Maybe thats the culprit?

Do you mean wiping these before doing the GPS drivers? I did try that superwipe app initially.

Honestly, I would do a full wipe (with Amon RA, either v2.3 or the newer version).
Then flash rom, flash gapps, flash kernel (optional), flash the GPS fix. It should be called GPS_Supersonic_FIX_FLash3.zip.

Reboot.

Maybe the clean install would help out. Just make a nandroid so you can go back if you want. But the GPS locks so good for almost everyone that uses that driver that it's certainly worth trying.

I would have to agree I just did a fresh install of DECKS and the gps is dead on with out the fix. I flashed decks and gapps in the same recovery.

Thanks everyone. I ended up re-flashing a few different times and ironically it's the GPS fix that broke it every time. So I just did the Decks ROM and GApps and left it at that. Hopefully this is the last time I'll need to re-install in a while. So nice to have all the bloat off. I was going to try a Sense ROM, but that also seemed more bloated than necessary and from the sounds of it runs on top of the base AOSP.

A hopefully final update...

It turns out that GPS without the fix only worked intermittently and was unreliable for navigation. So I decided to give the GPS fix one last try by installing the following in order after having used the phone for a few days:

1) CM7-N39-GPS-Driver_Supersonic.zip
2) GPS_Supersonic_FIX_Flash3.zip

I've tried navigation a few times and it seems to be working ever since. Not sure what was wrong the first umpteen times I tried, but it works now which is great. I was almost ready to try a Sense ROM instead if this didn't work.
