Okay guys, I could use a hand. Here's a puzzle, I'm going to break it down.

I have a family mobile variant of the Zmax, 4.4.4 b33.

I got notice of an ZTE update, and I went to install it. Phone reboots because I have twrp installed, it just took me to recovery. A couple days later I got notice of the update again. I decided I would install the stock recovery using MC's flashable file and attempt it again. I hit "install", and phone rebooted, stock recovery did its thing but the update failed.

My phone doesn't boot past the white logo screen, even after a factory reset. I cant get my phone to go into FTM mode so I could try those methods of recovery. Anyone else have any ideas on what I can do to recover my phone?

I already tried to be slick and use Cxoakes's captured "update.zip" for tmobile b33. It just fails that install too. I get after verifying current system "assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/appsource.apk"..then a mess of gibberish. Error in tmp/sideload/package.zip

I even redownloaded the update, just incase.

I'm open to ideas, or does anyone know a trick to get my phone into FTM? volume down+ power isnt working.

    Thank you in advance,
    Raider.

I'm not 100% certain, but the reason you flash the stock rom and the stock recovery together is to remove the "root". Flashing just the recovery removed twrp, but kept the phone rooted.

I appreciate that, but its doesn't help my situation. Yes, I wish I flashed the stock rom before..incase it made a difference.

Anyone know if they removed the FTM mode on recent updates, and is my phone just screwed? It's bricked and I cant get to it.

Unfortunately your phone is TOAST because you tried to install an ota update on a rooted device. You might as well start looking for alternative uses for it, like a fishing sinker, paper weight, or maybe even a skeet shooting target lol(sounds fun to me)!

You should NEVER attempt to install an ota on a rooted device. This has been said many many times.

Start your device usage in a powered off state. Hold volume up and down and plug in a usb cord to your PC. Do not hit the power button. Just hold volume up and down while plugging it in. It should give you the alternate FTM boot mode. I bricked my own phone awhile back doing the same crap trying to slip the VOLTE files into the old B06 metropcs stock rom.

It just brings up the download mode for me, adb doesn't detect the phone. Thank you though, appreciate the reply.

Did you try volume up and holding power?
