Can anyone help me here. I'm trying to install hboot drivers but in the hbot screen I dont get hboot usb as the fourth choice down. I do get hboot usb plug as a tab like header but it's not the way it is in the video tutorials.

All you get is hboot usb when its plugged in. There is not an option.

Follow the steps in my rooting guide linked in my signature (red link)

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

I was using the xda-dev guide but I've switched to yours now.

If my device is PVT3 do I just ignore the terminal emulator and the Amn RA 2.0.1 part?

also on the hboot screen all i get is hboot usb plug above the options so i cant scroll to it

You don't have to do the terminal stuff if pvt3.

Yes its not an option, its just an indicator that its plugged in. What are you trying to do?

I'm trying to do root my phone so I'm trying to install the hboot drivers which I believe is the first step of rooting

yeah but I meant in Hboot. You dont select anything, you just need to boot into hboot and plug in the usb. the rest is done on the computer

How do I check the hboot drivers installed properly? After it was done the phone stayed in HBOOT mode

After running unrevoked I got the message
"failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?"
Any suggestions? I'm on froyo 2.2

That probably means you bootloader is new. Hboot 0.xx is rootable whilst 1.xx is locked. But good news is that unrevoked team are working on it so its just a question of waiting now.

    They gave up I believe.

OP, read the rooting faq for the error

I tried running revoked another few times last night and got the

"Failed to unlock NAND flash" error.

In each case evoked had been running for a few minutes then said it had been a success before quickly changing to the NAND error.

Before going down the downgrade to stock 2.1 route I thought I'd post my hboot screen figures

I bought the phone about a year ago from the O2 shop and it was running 2.1 at the time. Obviously its locked on the O2 network

which version of unrevoked are you using.
if its not 3.21 then i would suggest you use that as it should work

other than that i have noticed that some o2 devices if they have been updated via ota they dont like being rooted and the only way to win is to use the downgrader

    however try 3.21 first

tried 3.21 but it didn't work. Don't remember which error it was, but it didn't work.

As I say in the FAQ, there are much more painful methods to try and get this to work, but often they dont work so downgrading IS the best option. Its easy enough.

make sure your computer has all updates including net framework and java
