Root Installing new radio question...

Hey guys, I had to get a new evo today because of a dead pixel that was driving me nuts. The phone is brand new and I have it rooted with MikG 2.58 and the More Freedom Kernel. My old phone had that latest radios like in this post at XDA [ Radios ][ 9-5 ] All EVO Radio, WiMAX, PRI, NV & HBoot versions - xda-developers I need to know how to flash this as I have already downloaded the combo files. Thanks in advance!

Can someone please help? I had the new stuff on my other EVO and I had much better signal. But it was on the phone because of a OTA not a flash.

Just download the combo pack and flash it in recovery like you would any other zip.

WARNING

Do NOT, for any reason, pull the battery while flashing the radio. I can't stress this enough. It WILL brick your phone. Once you flash the radio zip, you'll probably have to manually reboot your phone (In Amon RA 2.3, which by the way, should be everyone's recovery). Then it will update the radios and then it will boot back into recovery and automatically clear your cache. You're good too reboot then. Like I said, just make sure you have PLENTY of battery when you do it. I'd get it up to 80% or so.

Thanks for your reply, is it ok to have the phone connected to my laptop to keep it charged?

Well, in recovery, your phone won't charge. So just get it up to a decent level before flashing. Don't go into doing it at 10% battery thinking that your charger will keep it from dying during a flash.

Thanks again, got everything working no problem. I have Amon RA just wish that's what was recommended in the Gingerbread root guide but it's not. But I know know which one to use in the future from the start

i do not know which guide that you have read but i do have it in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html. i talk about it in the switching recoveries section.
