Now that Google has released the source code, has anyone explored the possibility of installing raw Android 2.0--sans Sense UI--on the HTC Eris (or Hero for that matter)? I wasn't able to find anything on search, but maybe I'm just not searching right. I know that would mainly forfeit multi-touch, but I'm just curious...

The Eris needs to be rooted first. Once it is rooted, you will be able to install custom ROM's whether it be stock Android, or something unique someone creates.

Current information and status of root:

You can however turn off SenseUI. To do this instead, go to:

Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Press Menu and Filter, Select All > HTC Sense > Clear Defaults > Press Home Button and Choose "Home"
