Just took the Coronado PST outside and watched most of the eclipse live.

Huge sunspot group, couple of decent prominences.

Tried to take a pic with the phone. The opening in the eyepiece is smaller than the camera lens. Try lining THAT up. Looks like the cover of an old Sci-Fi mag.

That white spot is actually the shadow. You could even see the mountain outlines on the moon. The scope uses H-Alpha so you look through it. Sun is orange. If you use K, the sun is blue/lavender. Mine is only a 40MM.

Probably not. This is the first eclipse I caught with the Coronado. I watched Venus and Mercury transit. There are far bigger H-Alpha scopes, but the price is rather high.
The PST was a bargain. I see the angstroms and price have gone up. Still worth it.

That sunspot group is now emitting flares. It's huge!

If you watch the moon occult a planet, you can see the same. Rather spectacular with a Saturn occultation. Since you can use any scope for this, those with large scopes really get the full effect.
