Could anyone tell me what this part of the phone actually doess at it got damaged during the dissesembly process and cannot be used.It is shown in the image below.

Is the arrow pointing at the little PC "Button Board" or are you referring to one of those little components right at the tip of your arrow?

The entire yellow part is quite likely a flexible material that holds buttons and other electronic components. Although, it might be solid material, I cant tell from the picture.

If your arrow points to a specific component, it is likely a surface mount capacitor or resistor. Widely available, although soldering it back in is tricky for most people. It can be done, however. If there is damage, check all components on top and on bottom of the PCB.

By the way, you should buy a proper ESD safety strap and find a proper ground or the cap/resistor wont be your only problem. Electro Static Discharge is a component killer.
