Root [International] Flashed the wrong Recovery!! Back to stock CAN D801/803 (Videotron)

Hello,

I have the LG G2 D801/803 Canadian model with Videotron that is now stuck in Fastboot mode(can't acces download mode) because I flashed the wrong Recovery. I'd just rooted the phone and was trying to flash the TWRP to make a nandroid backup before flashing a new ROM. From what I read all over the the net, I was pretty confident that the Videotron model was in fact the D801 T-mobile version. Guess it was NOT!

What I've done so far :

In fastboot, I tried to simply flash the right recovery. Could not find the TWRP's one, so I settled for Philz Touch recovery. Did not work! I'm still in fastboot mode. (I flash the recovery.img only).

I learned that because I flashed the Recovery with AutoRec, I've flashed bad laf, bad kernel too, bad aboot. Guess I have to return to stock. I've found a way to download the 2 firmware files for my model (D801V20D and D801V20E).

My problem is now which one is the one for my G2 D801 Videotron ? (Really want to make sure I get this right). PLEASE HELP!!!!!

You can't go back to true stock without download mode. If you still have recovery you could potentially flash a custom rom based on stock but then you'd still be missing download mode which is precarious situation to be in with this phone.

If all he had was fastboot mode, I'm assuming he fastboot flashed aboot and then either fastboot flashed or booted laf in order to restore download mode. At which point he likely used one of the lg flash tools packages to restore the stock firmware.

All you should need is laf and aboot from the same firwmare package. The safest way to attempt download mode restore is to fastboot flash aboot and then fastboot boot laf which should start download mode. When laf is booted, it can sometimes result in a black screen where it appears it's not working but it actually is working in the background.

Just be sure you are downloading aboot and laf for your variant and watch the file size very closely after you download to verify it matches the size of the hosted file.

Also PopLito, if Videotron allows the posting of their kdz's, they are obtainable on the web by using your IMEI. It's possible the more widely posted d803 partitions may not work on the Videotron variant. If you can locate your kdz and point me to it in some way, I can extract aboot and laf for you so you can be assured you have the right files.

Turns out the kdz wasn't that hard to find. Appears that the D801V20D seems to be correct as Charel noted above. I extracted the aboot and laf from that package which should be correct for your Videotron.

Again, to be as safe as possible...flash aboot and boot laf so...

fastboot flash aboot aboot.img

then...

fastboot boot laf.img

If the screen goes dark at that time, assume download mode is working and proceed to use LG Flash Tools. In a crisis you could instead fastboot flash laf laf.img but it's less safe. In the event there's an issue you could potentially lose fastboot mode which is your best (and potentially only) way out of your current situation.

You want to choose the D803 for your Videotron phone.

I've bricked my phone 3 times in a day... what a record. Had the EXACT SAME ISSUE FOLLOWING THE EXACT SAME PATTERN OF OP. Why must they name that variant D-801? They would have save so many lives by naming it D-803!

And really, your aloof and laf files saved my day. I had to look up 8 hours straight everywhere for the fix...

BTW... since there is no d803 for CM, are they actually d802? I can't trust d801 anymore :(

I have an lg d415, soft bricked. I'm trying to get download mode, but I'm stuck with fastboot. When I try to flash the laf, or do anything with fastboot for that matter, I get failed, remote unknown command. Please help.
