If I unlock the bootloader, then use SuperBoot v3 to root the SGN, will it automatically flash CWM Recovery? Or is that an additional step? If not, what would be the simplest layman-term way of doing so once it is rooted?

It does not. The easiest way to get it is to download ROM Manager from the market. Installing CWM is just one easy click in the app after that.

Perfect. I remember that from when I rooted the Incredible. I haven't bought the Nexus yet, but I'm researching everything I can about how to root correctly so I can do it quickly and easily when I do get the phone. There were some hiccups for my first time on the Incredible.
