I tried rooting my Galaxy s4 I9500 with Kingoroot which claimed to be an one click root. It failed miserably and what it did though was to install a custom recovery and SuperSU which forcecloses on opening and no application can be granted superuser access. I learnt later that XDA didnt endorse Kingoroot but please Senior members can u help me ! What should I do to go back to stock recovery ? Triangle away doesnt seem to recognise my device as a rooted one. Should I use kies ?

Which recovery did it install? (Rooting isn't recovery.)

As far as rooting, try Kingo

Hello and welcome to Android Forums maverikmedico! :)

Sorry to learn about your rooting mishap. Lets see if we can sort you out. You have 2 choices, as follows:-

    1. You can download and flash, via Odin, the stock, unrooted, Samsung firmware for your particular phone by following the instructions in #1.5 of 18 Galaxy S4 models - know yours? This will return your phone's recovery.

    2. You can continue to root your phone by carefully following the easy step-by-step guide, with videos, for beginners in the Rooting Galaxy S4 - Dummies Guide. This will root your phone and give you a custom recovery.

Dear ironass thanku so much for ur help. Can I use odin to flash stock rom without reseting knox counter ? I believe I dont have superuser access now but SuperSU installed which forcecloses everytime an app asks for superuser access. Will I have Knox issues using Odin?
PS . Knox app says I dont have permission to go into knox anymore. Do u think Knox might have caused these issues?
    Regards.

Flashing a stock Samsung firmware for your phone's CSC code, as detailed in #1.5 of 18 Galaxy S4 models - know yours?, will not trip your Knox flag.

I would advise you to check your Knox flag before you go any further, see #1.4 of Knox Security & locked bootloader on new firmwares, as it may well have been tripped already.

You will need to remove any rooting apps such as SuperSU, etc; prior to flashing the stock firmware. See, #1.2 of the previous link.

If you cannot remove it because you no longer have root access, then rooting is the only way to go.

Activate it as Other device under CWM 3.x.
