Root [International] Which firmware build should i be looking for?

I'm looking to flash the most up to date firmware for my unbranded I9300 in the USA (already rooted if available yet, or I'll root after installing if there's a working method). Anyone know what build number I should be looking for, and where to find it?

XXGLB8 is the most recent firmware for the GT-I9300. This is not for the US versions of the phone, only the International version. You can find an official copy at www.sammobile.com

Cool website. I am on the I9300 unlocked/unbranded etc in the us. How do I know which country's firmware to use? I see several downloads for the I9300.

Any i9300 firmware will work on any i9300 regardless of county

The US versions of the S3 had a different model number depending on your carrier. If you have a true I9300, use the firmware from the UK.

Cool. Now is that build rootable through Odin? In the root folder of the GS3 ToolKit I see the TAR files matching the older firmware build number. Do I just need to find the boot.insecure.....TAR file for this newer firmware (assuming it exists) to flash with Odin?

Follow guides for cf root if rooting is what you're doing

OK I used cf root 6.4. Not seeing the CWM or SuperSU apps though, and Root Check Basic says I don't have root access.

I do seem to have CWM Recovery though. Weird.

What am I missing?

Fixed. The phone wasn't going to recovery from Odin, so as the dev suggested, I yanked the battery and manually booted to recovery so the installation could finish.
