Root Invisible in Device Manager

Hi! I recently took on the task of rooting my phone, so my friend sent me here. I've found the two best rooting guides, but I'm stuck at literally the beginning, the HBOOT part...

When connected normally, my Desire comes up in Device Manager as 'My HTC' which is apparently all good. However, when i go into HBOOT on my phone boot menu, it says HBOOT USB PLUG, but wont show at all in Device Manager, so i am unable to install the Bootloader Interface. It's almost like it's not detecting that the phone is connected to my PC.

Any ideas?

Apologies! Such a simple thing...

Just changed it to another USB port on my PC and now it can discover it as an 'Android 1.0 device'.

Lol you would be surprised at how many times all that's needed is a change of usb ports.
