Hey I recently got a nexus 7 tablet as my first android and I love it but I also have a iphone. I was wondering if I can have the texts going to my phone come to my tablet.

there might be away.. just thinking outside the box.

if you use a 3rd party sms app. it must be available on IOS and Android.
something like: "viber"
using the same account you create on it.. and load it on both devices.
I would think both would be able to get the same text.

edit: I also think it uses your phone number to get your texts.. so it should be seamless...

As in text messages sent to your phone number? Doubt it since that is through the carrier of your phone.

But as mentioned above, you can use Skype, google Hangouts, etc. to receive instant messages on multiple devices. For example, I can sign into Skype on my computer and laptop and phone and all three get skype messages at the same time.

If I remember correctly, MightyText is available for iOS as well? You need to install it on your iPhone, then sync it to your Google account. Then install the Tablet app onto your Nexus. As long as both devices are connected to the internet, you can read and reply to messages on your phone via your tablet. This only works for messages sent to your number though. I don't think it works for iMessage group messages.

If you have the same phone number set up on both devices then SMS/MMS messages sent to that number will appear in both devices' SMS/MMS apps (and notifications).

Will setting up one of those sms services change the number I use and then I would have to tell all my contacts my new number?

Use Google Voice for texting, and install the Google Voice app for both iPhone and Android.
