It is rumored that the iPod Touch 5 will be 3D and maybe record 3D?

In my point.. I would just keep my HTC EVO 4G Why would you buy/have two 3D enabled devices?

If that is.. Would you still get the E3D?

Because the 3D on the phone is just gravy. Everything under the hood is the reason I want the phone.

My iPod Touch is a dedicated MP3 player in my car. Doesn't need to be a 3D device for that. But this strikes as a test bed for maybe making a new iPhone with 3D. I'm sure Apple doesn't just want to jump in feet first with 3D considering the issues/complaints about it. If they do go with it, I expect it to be an optional iPhone that will sit next to the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 or whatever they come out with this fall.

I could see Apple dropping iPhone 5 with or without 3D.. Also being on Verizon's 4G LTE. But, what if "the new" is 3D capabilities?

Like how "the new" back in the day was a fresh pair of Nike's. EVERYBODY wanted them..

I think a lot of people feel the same way -- somewhere between "stereo is cool" to "stereo is a novelty". From the feedback on this forum, stereoscopic 3D is not the main reason people want this phone. You might just as easily ask "Why would you have two high-definition media players", or "Why would you have two portable devices with a camera": it's for reasons other than the 3D that people would get two of these to begin with.

If a future Apple phone has 3D, then iPhone lovers will go for that, Android lovers will go for the Evo 3D or the LG Optimus 3D or other future Android 3D phones. Some will choose after careful comparisons, some will choose as camp followers.

While I respect Apple and what they've done with the iPhone, I'm likely to choose the Evo 3D as just a camp follower - I really like my Evo, I'm all for Android, I don't want to join the Apple ecosystem with my phone - I'll just go with the Evo 3D on the basis of it being better than my Evo (and fiddle around with 3D just to see what's up). I've used the iPhones, they don't interest me.

People may choose an iPod with 3D and an Evo 3D for the same reason that some people choose regular iPods and Android phones even though both play music - maximum flexibility with their personal electronics for whatever jobs they want done.

Yeah, the 3D is really just a "premium" feature, above and beyond the real guts of the phone. Down the road, when Sprint starts offering more dual-core phones, it could be that deciding factor that gives it an edge for some people. I want that processing power! I'm still on a Hero running stock and I've been very frustrated. I just found out about LockPicker, the Exchange lock screen would hang the hell out of it, so it's running 10x better today. I just don't want lag and I'm confident the specs on the Evo3D will keep me happy for atleast a year.

Not at all. I have a Ipod, for music and some games just because I dont like the sound quality coming out of my Evo and the battery drain on my phone.

That is a better option for someone like me who will have to buy the Evo 3D straight out with no upgrade. The Ipod will be a cheaper option. Other than that, it boils down to what you use your phone and mp3 player for.

No reason to have two 3d enabled devices and also no reason not to. Personally though I just don't see Apple going with 3d on their next I-anything simply because that is just not how Apple rolls. It is still too gimicky for them I think. You could make the argument that they want to keep up with the Joneses (i.e Android) and throw it on but history tells us otherwise. Apple still has not implemented Bluray even though it is now pretty much standard on any PC or laptop worth buying, they have not added 3d to any of their computer line up even though PC's are doing it more and more everyday, and they still haven't/may not ever add USB 3.0 to anything (although neither have many PC/Laptop's) but did add Thunderbolt (their connection that the developed with Intel). Apple likes to think of themselves as innovators in the market place and 3d is still a little Raw for them in my opinion. Granted they do like to gobble up media marketplace (iTunes) and as 3d gains more and more ground, which it is doing everyday, they will have to offer 3d options. But I think we would see it in the 6th generation across all their products, possibly first in the 3rd gen Apple TV (makes the most sense with 3d TV purchases on a significant rise).

Apple tries not to be gimmicky from a marketing standpoint, and 3D is as gimmicky as it gets. I was extremely wary of getting the 3VO, just because i didn't want a phone that was being sold solely on it's gimmick with nothing to back it up. After looking into the specs though i saw that there was much more to this beast than just the 3D gimmick.

I think Apple will try to come up with something 'better' or more 'creative' than 3D. Holographic anyone? ;)

They like to be sleek, streamlined, and 'sexy'. Which is everything that the EVO isn't. The iPhone is a Mercedes while the EVO's are the F-250's of the world. They are big huge work-horses that can do way more than the iPhones.

as far as a 3D mp3 player goes, i will stick to my iPod classic. nice 120 GB storage and classic Click-wheel and no-hassel bells and whistles like the iTouch.

It's no different a question that we've seen asked of the Evo and the various SGS versions:

Why use your phone for music if you have an iPod?

This is the logical extension of that question, carried to 3D - same concept really.

My reply and others - same reasons as the old days for Android phone vs. iPod.
