I'm considering switching from T-mobile to verizon for this phone. I was this close to getting the motocliq but this device seems to be much better as long as the keyboard is functional since I'm not even a social networker. How many of you are considering switching carriers for this phone and do you think its worth it?

Is it true there's a 30 day buyer's remorse period on verizon so if I just get it and don't like it for whatever reason, I'm safe to remain with t-mobile and not be committed?

I'm already on Verizon so I won't be switching, although T-mobile's project dark/black looks very interesting. Verizon has a worry free Guarantee. Here's how they word the 30 day portion:

Yes, though you might have to do a bit of follow up with customer service. I was wavering between T-Mobile and Verizon about a month ago and bought phones from each and returned them (changing my plan twice on Verizon). This screwed up a bunch of things and I had to spend time on the phone with customer service. Everyone was helpful so it wasn't much to worry about.

Just a note, don't port your phone number until you are sure! That does lead to big pains . It is better to pay $5-$20 for two phones for a couple days than deal with switching phone numbers.

On a note, set aside a weekend to do this so you can spend quality time with your new phone.

I'm switching from AT&T for this phone, from the iPhone. Love the phone, can't do business when I'm dropping about 50% of my calls. I tried to switch over about a month ago and just get by with a feature phone. Returned it a week later with absolutely no hassle. They told me there'd be a restocking fee, but didn't even get charged that. Verizon has great customer service.

Although I would HATE to switch from Sprint to Verizon because of the plan pricing, I would do it for THE phone, but I just don't know that this is THE phone. If it was the HTC Dragon and it met the expectations and hype I would probably do it for that phone. Or if it was the LEO with Android, which someone suggested the HTC dragon is, but it's NOT because they look totally different.

I don't care about a keyboard and not sure I want to add to the bulkiness for something I don't care about, and I text a LOT, but still don't see the need for a keyboard. Even with a keyboard I wouldn't open it up for that everytime I text, I want a phone where I can whip out quick one handed texts. And looks wise it's OKAY, but not great. It's definitely not ugly as someone suggested, but I don't know that it quite makes it as being "sexy." The other concern is the interface, we don't know anything about that, and from what we've been seeing it looks rather plain. I've probalby become spoiled with the idea of Sense.

I'm not suggesting this won't be a great phone, but I've been waiting about a year to commit to a touchscreen phone and I've yet to find one that has all the "stuff" I'm looking for. One of the other important things for me is screen size. If the hero had a screen the size of the iphone or sholes I would have been on that already. I've yet to find a phone that I would call the complete package. And my standards aren't that high...just give me Android with sense, or an equally good UI, a sexy look, MINIMUM of 3.5" screen and quality build. I'm really surprised this hasn't been accomplished yet.

I honestly don't think any phone could be an iphone "competitor" unless it matches its screen size. I say competitor because there will NEVER be an iphone killer. Not because it's so great, although it is pretty good, but because of all the mindless lemmings out there who always here iphone iphone iphone so that's what they end up buying. Also, there are too many phones out there now that no ONE phone will even be able to come in sniffing distance of iphone sales. I think it would be a major accomplishment for a phone to even get HALF the number of iphone sales. We can only hope anroid will continue to grow and multiply and at least start chipping away at some of the iphone market share. I don't even think all the android phones combined will catch up to the iphone in terms of sales any time in the foreseeable future. Maybe like five plus years from now - MAYBE - that could happen.

I just made the switch from Sprint to Verizon for this phone. So far I've been living with a Storm until Droid is released.

My GF and I are possibly going to switch from sprint to verizon for this phone. We'll see though. Hopefully it gets released early in Nov and we can play around with it. I really don't want to switch from sprint but I also dislike the older processing hardware being used by sprint androind phones.

If it becomes a toss up we'll just stay with sprint get a hero and a moment (she requires the qwerty, i'd give it up for the sense interface).

I plan on switching from tmob to snag the phone, but this is all contigent on the fact that this mysterious motorola UI is actually looking decent. The Blur UI looks like all the social networks just threw up and it landed on a screen. So hopefully it will be a toned down version or completly diff. If this phone was running Sense and also had the rumored quicker processor it would truelly be an iphone killer no doubt about it. But all in all im gonna switch no matter what, cause my G1 is laggy and tmobile is just plain awful in coverage.

Already with Verizon but I am one one of those people who switch based on phone. This is a phone I would switch for. It DEFINITELY is not for everyone. I find it very sexy. Most women, if not all in our training class who played with the phone preferred the HTC Eris. A few discerning men preferred the Droid based on looks.

As far as the UI, it is basic because it's made to be customizable. You make it what you want. After having this phone for a few months, you should never have stock UI with stock widgets and stock Icons on stock panels. It doesn't make sense to buy this phone and not customize it. It's like buying a Blackberry and you don't even like email.

I'm switching from AT&T, I will have to pay a $125 ETF but with the profit from the iphone I sold (paid $99, sold for $460) I will still have some $$ leftover after getting the Droid. I also have a $50 off any phone coupon from Verizon if I switch back so it's looking really good. And with Verizon I'll have 3G (well there version of it, evdo) in my area instead of slow edge.

Well I'm still in college so my parents pay for my cellphone but I'm trying my hardest to get them to switch to Verizon from Sprint. I was planning on getting the Hero up until I started reading about this phone.

I'm definitely thinking about switching from my current Sprint account to Verizon for the Droid. I'm on the $30 SERO plan but I was going to upgrade to the $59 EPRP plan this week to get an Android device on Sprint anyway. Sprint will not allow me to use a corporate discount on top of EPRP. But I can use my corporate discount with Verizon as I won't be on an employee plan. Therefore it will cost me virtually the same amount every month on Verizon to get the Droid as it would on Sprint to have a phone such as the HTC Hero or Samsung Moment. Since the Droid is going to be vastly superior to these I can't see what I have to lose by switching, but I can definitely see what I will gain-the Droid!

Assuming I like the look and feel of the Android when I hold it in my hands and actually play with it a bit -- I'm told Verizon stores might have it in stock later this week in my area (Washington DC) -- then I will switch from AT&T to Verizon for this.

Been with AT&T Mobile and before that Cingular and before that CellularOne, but I just am not an "Apple" person and didn't want the iPhone so have been waiting for a great Android-based smartphone.

Somewhat reluctant to go with Verizon because I had some very screwy billing problems with them on my landline a couple of years ago, but perhaps their Wireless billing system is better.

I am with Verizon and this phone is the only thing that is keeping me from moving to Sprint. VZW's smart phone lineup right now is total crap.

My decision to change over to Verizon will be based solely on the availability of an unlocked version. If I can get one rather quickly, and bring it to Sprint, I will be.

Like someone else said, I will want to hold the phone and play with it for a bit. If its as good as it seems then Im switching from AT&T and iPhone. I love my iPhone but Im bored with it and ready from something else.

Well you could most likely "flash" it for Sprint. I have done this with a bunch of phones with CDMA Workshop. The biggest problem is if you can get the Evdo Rev A to be compatible. But for a truly Factory unlocked version I doubt you will find one, this phone is VZW's flagship and they will keep exclusivity in the US.

I am really trying to fight the urge to switch BACK to Verizon for this phone. I just left Verizon for T-Mobile last year to get the G1 and I'm in the middle of a two year contract now. I really really really want the Droid... but I don't know if I can afford to switch again. Hopefully I can make it another full year and by this time next year there will some even better and more impressive Android phones out there! (I hope I'm strong enough to fight the urge).

I'm on Orange UK and my contract ends this Friday. I'm gonna hold out for the Droid to come to UK or something equal or better. It seems like all the android phones over here are lacking a full qwerty which I consider a must. Does anyone know if and when there are any plans to release the Droid in the UK? I've been with Orange for 11 years but will switch for this bad boy.

So to summarise, YES I'll switch networks for the Droid.

I'm definitely planning on dropping AT&T and selling my 3GS for the Droid. It was painful to leave Verizon in the first place because the AT&T service sucks here. If I can convince my wife to leave as well, AT&T will be losing 2 customers. :)
