I'm having a problem with spell checking, and tech support can't help.
Maildroid uses Google's prepackaged spell checker. The author pays a fee for a certain amount of uses per day. For the past few months it runs out of uses by early evening. Android 4.2 has a built in spell checker that turns incorrectly spelled words red. Mine works everywhere but Maildroid. I need to know if anyone else has the same problem. PLEASE let me know. It's really important in solving this issue.

    Thank you in advance,

    Yikes, ugly indeed.

OP, maybe try a different mail app. CloudMagic works really well.

I tried it but it is missing the most basic items. Most importantly, it doesn't save drafts. So, thanks anyway but my search continues.

The app focuses on functionality more than UI style. It is far from cupcake style, it was re-designed when Android 3.x came out (most screens). While we do appreciate UI feedback and will update it, we continue to focus on functionality as a business tool.

What an ugly app???? What does 'looks' have anything to do with the functionality of the program. I am not trying to start an argrument or cause problems but I thought some of the comments were kind of unkind.

I admit I am new to the Android Tablet world. There is a LOT I don't know and have a lot to learn. But......one thing I wanted was a functional email program that monitored all my email accounts; MailDroid does. I wanted an email program that gave me a spell check assistance, none of the others and the one that came with my tablet ....did not; MailDroid does and it is fairly decent. Is MailDroid pretty to look at and have all sorts of cutesy characters; NO. But "I" do not need pretty.....I need functional and it has been working great for me.

I am sorry it has not for those of you who have made negative comments.

I'm glad it's working for you NorthGeorgia. I don't think anyone in here was trying to knock the mail reader.. more of making an observation. It's not working the way the Op wants and is looking for other's observations and suggestions. Do you have any suggestions or workarounds for it running out of spell checking early evenings? That seems to be the Ops lone complaint.

MARKDOC - I'm with you. MD best Android email client out there for power emailers looking for desktop-like experience. Integrated spell check ESSENTIAL for those using docking station and/or BT keyboard. VERY FRUSTRATING with the nightly "you have hit your quota" thing. My workaround is to use the stock email client, only other POP3 client with spell check. It is atrocious; gives valid choice less than 25% of the time. KitKat upgrade getting good reviews. We'll see (I won't get until April or later). On the UI, to each his/her own but I like the UI a lot (not cluttered!) and highly customizable. Improvements (which developer has been open to): need Search for Sent Folder with POP3 and add para numbering, centering, indent, highlight, and strikeover to the Rich Text tools. Then you might never need Outlook (if it ever comes to Android)! K9 not in MD'S league. Aquamail and K-@ do not have integrated spell check. Rest are all email lite clients of little use to power Android emailers. Stock client "coulda been a contender" but needs more work (and inability to attach and save docs with Drop Box just a killer right there).

It's nice to know I'm not alone. The other email apps may look nice, but are anemic compared to Maildroid. I know the others were trying to help, but I couldn't believe the state of the others. IMHO Maildroid looks fine. I just wish support could have figured out the problem with Spell Checking. At least it's not just me. (Sorry for you but misery loves company) I use Smartkeyboard Pro. It sort of has spell checking built in but also not reliable. It does have the only "Autotext" that allows spaces and carriage returns. I've gotten so use to them, I can't live without it.
Thanks again to all that helped.

I guess I don't am not a 'power' email user. I don't have a problem with spell check 'running out' on me. Not meant as a knock on MailDroid but I wish that the email services like Yahoo, Gmail, AOL etc......... would allow their internal spell check to be able to work with the Android tablet world too. But, MailDroid will be an adequate substitute and I'll continue to use it.
