Ok, I have been somewhat trying to follow the CM7 thread, but it is so massive now and even to miss stuff. I have been keeping my eye on CM7 and waiting until it got a lot less buggy. Has that happened yet? Or does it still have a ways to go?

from what i understand its pretty stable, you need to flash the newest nightly, and flash the newest google apps and the all in one fix, and it just works without a problem.

i think it has come a long way, and has become alot more stable

I agree that its pretty stable. I've been on it for about a week now. Like you I also waited a while before giving it a shot.

Is there a way to install blur Widgets on these roms? I'm on Apex 2 and it has a way. I use quick contact widget and sticky note widget, and haven't found a good replacement for them on the market.

these roms do not have blur in them and there is no way to get blur in them at this time, and if your wanting blur you may want to stick with the .596 roms, as the 2init roms, will not have it

Which is more complete, OMFGB or CM7.

    What doesn't work?

    Sounds like they are similar.

    omfgb is more stable

    everything works

there is a mms bug but you can fix it, you have to flash google apps
and you cannot send or receive mms on wifi

cm7 you have to apply the all in one fix
    and google apps

but camera and video work on omfgb without having to flash any fix

CM7 seems to be stable, and super fast

Quadrant score was over 2000 on my first run with no OC. Heck, I didn't score that high when I OC the stock gb.

CM7 on my tablet, OC'd from 800 to 1300, I got a max quadrant of a little over 3000. My Nook uses a cpu similar to the DX. There's a lot of development happening for the Nook Color.

How stable are these in comparison to one of the OTA roms? How about battery life?

CM7, MIU, OMGB, OMFGB or any other rom based on CM7 or 2init should be considered a work in progress. None of them is close to being a "stable" build, (a good, stable release version with few bugs). A build that isn't "stable" might also be called a beta version if that term is more familiar to you. They are not close to being release candidates either.

Thanks for the clarification. I see the word "Stable" tossed around alot in regards to ROMS and honestly I just want my phone to work. Part of the reason I even rooted in the first place. GB pretty much made my phone the most buggy piece of garbage I've ever seen but Darkslide X has been performing quite well for me. I want to try another ROM, but I can't really complain about this one so I don't see the point (Except that I really like the way some of the other themes out there look. Notably one posters setup in MIUI was looking SUPER sexy!)

Stable and fast, but battery life is not as good as the Blur ROMs. I can go 12-14 hours on CM7 before completely dying. With Blur ROMs I would be at like 40-50% around the same time.

Stable is a CM term. You can see stable builds here for the Nook Color (encore). There are no stable builds yet for the DroidX (cdma_shadow).

I doubt it'll happen until the Camera is officially fixed using AOSP files rather than the MOTO ones the 3rd party fix uses.

the only time mine became unstable was when I was f-ing with it and corrupted some files... a quick SBF fixes pretty much anything, though

    Thanks for the replies everyone!

I am still on GB Darkslide and really happy with it at the moment. Think I will sit back and wait a little while longer before trying CM7. I am to the point like someone else posted in here...I just need my phone to work 99% of the time (hopefully 100%, but that isn't achievable yet)

I have been running the nightlies for about a week now.
I have not had any problems at all with my phone.
The camera fix is the only thing you have to flash every time, but it's no big deal.
I don't care that there is not 720p video, as the DX only does 20fps in that mode. That's not enough fps for smooth video, anyhow.

I had been running a LG Ally on Velocity 1.1 and was totally new to the DX.
Got my DX last week, had cm7.1 running in less than an hour.
Used the guide I found here...(hope the cross link is acceptable)...
and used the bootable cd rom to sbf found HERE.(easy as pie.).

I would recommend to anyone wanting to give cm7.1 a try, to go for it.
It's already running Android 2.3.5 and has been rock solid for me. (~125 apps installed!)
With the mentioned above bootable cd to sbf, it takes all the worry away.

    Just my 2 cents....

IMO yes it is. I have ran it for a few weeks. GPS works. I'm not sure if its just my imagination I don't think my pictures are turning out quite as good, but it's fully functional as long as you you flash the google apps. the fix file and the monster fix file
