A 4 inch screen AND a physical keyboard? Sounds like a bit too much. I would probably be able to count on one hand how many times I would use that keyboard. As a matter of fact, I rarely type on my evo in landscape mode...

IMO not worth the extra $50.

Its slightly newer, slightly more powerful and slightly more attractive to people who want the new screen and/or the keyboard.

Its not the top dog, its the newest phone. Everyone everywhere always focuses on the newest product.

If you (and by 'you' I don't mean you personally) want to look like a teenage girl sliding open a keyboard during a business meeting when everyone else is holding their Blackberry vertically, I'd say go ahead to those people.

Slim, sleek and all screen.....That's the Evo. That is style.

I don't get it, they are two different phones. One has a keyboard, one doesn't.
As far as I am concerned, they are not competing for the same market.
When I went into the Sprint store to buy an Evo, the salesperson said he had none in stock and that I should just wait till the launch of the Epic.
    But, I don't want/need a keyboard. So I got the Evo.

I know I heard Sprint sales people also talking up the Epic over the Evo in the store one day also. It almost looks like Sprint is moving on to the Epic because they simply cant get the numbers they need in Evos from HTC and thats sad in a way. Its to bad HTC screwed up and didn't secure better supplier deals so they could have at least a decent amount of them to offer for sale. The Evo just might get cast aside by Sprint if HTC cant bolster up the supply chain to meet the demand.

Doubt ill ever buy another phone with a physical keyboard.. I dont really see the need with swype and shapewriter available. Plus with voice to text now I doubt if id ever use it. Even when I had the touch pro 2 I rarely ever used the keyboard. Only benefit I can see is the super amoled screen. The supposed better processor from what ive seen thus far doesnt necessarily translate to it being better... mainly because touchwiz bogs the hell out of the phone. Plus with the gps issues.. I dont really see it. Since i'm due for an upgrade ill probably buy one and sell it on craigslist though.

It does have an on screen keyboard (Swype) also, so you can save your reputation in those business meetings and not be considered a teenage girl...

I don't see the Epic as stealing the crown from the Evo at all. I see it as a different option for those that prefer the qwerty keyboard. Both are awesome devices. To me it's a win win for Sprint. I prefer the EVO because the screen is so huge...I don't need a physical keyboard. Plus I prefer Sense UI over Touchwiz. Even though I still choose the Evo....you can't go wrong with either.

Even tho most of us prefer the Evo over the Epic, it appears it has stole the thunder from the Evo. Me personally, I don't need a keyboard anymore. Plus I'm not writing papers on my cell phone anyway. Evo is still my 1st choice.

That video has been floating around for awhile.

First, it's an EPIC commercial. The opening credits and Heather's opening sentence show that. It is meant, in my mind, to present EPIC as a viable option. But make no mistake: that is an EPIC ad.

For my needs, the EVO trumps the EPIC, but I am quite okay with people preferring the EPIC.

The keyboard is a deal breaker. My last phone was a slider. The keyboard was the first thing to crap out on it. Just more moving parts to break in my opinion. And the Evo looks WAY sleeker and stylish. And yes, you can just use the on screen keyboard. But if you do that why buy a slider? And I'm just guessing on this but the Epic is slightly lighter in weight and slightly larger than the Evo which makes me imagine a cheap feeling device. And as for the screen on the Epic being sharper- I don't really consider this. Everything is going to look sharp when the screen you are looking at is 4 inches. I doubt the difference in picture/video quality will be very noticeable. Unless your the type that enjoys splitting hairs. Both will be nice phones but i'll stick with my Evo. Physical keyboards are old shit.

I will have to wait and see how it appeal to the folks out there, but like someone stated its a win win for sprint just another option for the folks that like a physical keyboard, better processor and that super amoled.

    New enough. :)

Don't mind me... it's still relevant for people who need some time to pick the correct phone for them.

I do believe it is a soft marketing ploy by a company that wants to encourage people to get the new phone by not bashing an older device to hard. It's a slippery slope.

But, for me (like others) the keyboard is a deal breaker. Funny how a former BB user says this now.

I am also very, very nervous about the GPS.

I still think the EVO will be Sprints money maker. The Epic of course will steal some sales from the EVO but the EVO should remain the top seller.

The fill two completely different type of people. Evo is top for no physical keyboard and Epic is top for a physical keyboard. People usually want one or the other so they fill different roles.

FWIW, I called Sprint last night to get a replacement EVO and yapped a bit with the CSR, he said, "The Epic is on a 6 month back log and stores were instructed to stop taking pre-orders. By the time you can get your hands on an Epic without a pre-order, there will be something newer out."

Not really saying anything, just sayin...

Let's not forget Blackberry just released the Torch there first touch screen slider. So it would seem many people must like them and not just school girls.
