Per the leaked XOOM manual, you can Voice Chat (VoIP) and Video Chat to other Google Chat members on PCs or XOOMs.

Google Voice doesn't call directly from the site. It either calls the phone you have it connected to or through Google Chat which goes right to the original question that was asked.

yep i saw that. what i'm talking about is the calling feature that google rolled out over the summer that enables you to call any phone in the u.s. for free using voip. its browser based voip from within gmail. the answer to this is huge to me and will likely determine whether or not i buy a xoom...

    edit: this...

No he is talking about inside of gmail there is a new Call feature in the chat window.

But to answer the OPs question, I think it needs flash. So once flash is released it should work. I hope.

No. When you open the app its not an option. I tried opening it in the browser but it looks like the mobile site. Can't get it to load the nin mobile site.

Edit just got the non mobile to work in the browser. Still a no go. Google talk is not even in the side panel. Gogle labs isn't an option there either.

The way I understand it, GV is "not ready" for Honey Comb yet, and that's why if you go to the market and try to find it, its not even listed. I would give a link, but I can't remember where I saw it.

Maybe in near future it "might" be available. It really depends on whether google wants to do it or not. I'm sure there is a way but maybe google doesn't want to do it yet? Maybe a GV over voip?

the app will be available.. when GV was first released there was no mobile app for it right out the gate.. give them time... i know we all have our shiny new toy and we want the same functionality as we have in our android handsets.. in time... in time....

Unfortunately there isn't a google voice app yet. They are working on it but currently not supported on honeycomb. If you download the apk file for it, it will only crash. Something us early adopters of honeycomb will have to deal with. Things will get better though.

google voice is, if not the most commonly used google app among android users.. the fact that this was not developed in time for honeycombs release is an epic fail on Google's behalf

From what I heard, and this is just rumor at this point, is that they are working on finishing the VOIP functionality of GV before releasing. They want that working as well as texting to be an ultimate communication device.

Like I said just speculative and rumor at this point. But I would not put it passed them.

It would have not killed them to give us a beta version or something to hold us over.
