yes it is, if you are using a paid for app without purchaing the app it is theft, plain and simple. the developers need that money to put towards developing newer apps and games and your effectively cutting them short, so if you like it just go out and buy it.

AHEM! The Site Rules/Guidelines do not forbid discussing the legality of software, but it should be pretty obvious that what you are discussing is in fact plainly illegal. Generally, apps have official "lite" versions that are free, but if it's the same app that's been hacked, it's out of bounds -- for that matter: what guarantee do you have that the app hasn't been hacked into a malicious trojan? Don't forget that your phone knows a lot about you...
