Not sure this is the right place to post this, but the ZTE Valet has a single core processor, I currently have a large SD card with lots of media on it (books, music, etc).

Google arbitrarily decides to scan my media regularly which renders the phone useless during that long process. I don't need Google to scan the files, I have them sorted in folders and use Folder Player to play my media.

So I'm wondering if I can just disable this process to solve the headache? I'm running Android OS 4.1.1.

I've tried Googling it but mostly end up with people trying to fix error messages related to android.process.media.
