Help Is it possible to limit the rate of charge to 500 mA by software?

My understanding is that a high rate of charging heats the battery excessively, causing it to degrade faster. This could be prevented more easily if it was possible to limit charge rate (to, for example, 500 mA) using a suitable app. Is that possible?

Not by an app, unless it's got root privileges, and even then I am not sure it's possible. Just get a charger that's rated at 500ma and its less trouble.

Not possible with just an app. Use a small standard charger I think, one that isn't high current fast charge capable. PC USB ports only have limited current as well.
