is it worth upgrading?

Still using the old ROM, just found out this was available. I'm torn though, I understand that I will lose everything that is currently on my phone now? Have to set the entire thing back up, all the settings, etc?

Is it worth it?

It's not perfect, but it's not worse than 1.5.

The biggest thing for me is the new Market. It's kinda cool seeing screenshots of apps in there, not a big deal but it's kinda cool. lol And of course all the apps that weren't available on the 1.5 Market.

Thanks for the info.

I'm just not sure if I want to set the entire thing back up from scratch. I have my phone exactly how I want it now. lol

Does the new ROM effect the battery life at all? I'd really like to get a little more use of my phone without having to charge it up so often.

Honestly, I haven't noticed a difference. The battery drains in 2 seconds (exaggeration) when I have my music on, and I have an app or game open, just like 1.5. With all the shit it can do, I expect it to drain pretty quick though.

Some things have sped up and others have bogged down on my hero. The phone part of my phone seems to have bogged down big time. It is hard work to make a phone call.

I agree with sr1982. I tried calling my phone from a different phone, and it takes about 3-4 seconds to show up that someone is calling.

Not quite, you'd be better off rooting the phone and putting a custom 2.1 ROM on there.

The custom 2.1 ROMs can remove the HTC Sense software and allow you to have decent performance (for 3D games).

If you don't play 3D games, then the Stock 2.1 is fine.

Don't do it. Root your phone and flash a custom rom. Just look at all the complaints about the official update. Almost no one who is rooted hates their rom.

Rooting is much easier than you might think. Plus, if you don't want to do it manually, you can just download Fresh Kitchen and perform the auto-root.

I read this on another thread.

I wish I could go back - I can't type a fcking thing in landscape mode!

Is this something that 2.1 does? If I can only send text messages in landscape that is enough for me to stay with 1.5. Actually with everything I am reading I am seriously thinking about keeping it as is. I don't really have any problems with the phone right now!!

Thanks
