Is Samsung ever going to make a tablet with separate Hdmi port?

I'm using a chinese tablet that cost new $99 a 1 1/2 years ago to post this question.

It's plugged into a 50 inch HDTV via it's separate hdmi port, along with a wireless mouse plugged in to a OTG adapter plugged into the tabs usb jack!

Why doesn't Samsung make a tab like this?

Not everyone has a Samsung tv, so you can use their proprietary ways to connect like Allshare.

My wife has the Tab 2 7.0 which is perfect for me if it had these features. How much more would it cost?

Go to the company that made your tab and ask them if they can please reflash it for you. Going to my local Samsunng guys takes (if we hadn't had what they call a blizzard in these parts) less than 10 minutes in heavy traffic. How long does it take to get to the guys who made your tab?

That's the difference. Samsung is spending more in one week making sure that their products can be maintained in the field than that Chinese company grosses during the entire time of its existence.

I'd rather pay $20 for an MHL converter for my Samsung than about a thousand for airfare and hotel bills to get my Chinese copy fixed.

And I'm not a Samsung fanboi - they've gotten WAY too far into bed with the carriers for my taste. But I'm not buying a no-name phone that reverts to Chinese when you reset it, and has $3 worth of parts in it. I'd prefer Motorola, but the company that designed the ST7868 doesn't exist any more.

    Thank for the response!

I guess I didn't make my self clear.

First off, the MHL adapter does not work with the 7&8 inch tabs.
And even if it did, you still can't us a usb device, or plug the tab into charger, because it doesn't have multiple inputs like my cheap tablet. Plus, their research has nothing to do with it, because just about every chinese tab has these features that work fine!

My complaint with my tablet is not that it doesn't work, but is slow and the screen is
Not sensitive, but is very reliable.

Must admit hdmi out on every device would be nice. I use a samsung phone but because i dont use samsung firmware, MHL is broken.
Arent there adaptors that let you plug more than one thing into the micro usb so you could use your mouse and mhl?
    Or get a bluetooth one?

There are USB Y connectors that solve that problem for about $2. Postage included.

And no address, no manual, no tech support - IOW, as long as nothing goes wrong you've saved money. As soon as you need help, you throw the tab out and buy another one. I've gone through 3 Note 3s in the past couple of months. Cost me a 5 minute drive. (And they're already on notice about the 3rd - it might end up getting replaced - free again,)

Slow CPUs and less RAM is cheaper.

    Cheap parts. Resistive screen?

And WHERE do you bring it to get it fixed when something goes wrong? Shenzhen Running Company? (That means they got your money and they're running as fast as they can.)

If you want to save money, that's your choice. I'd rather buy quality that's backed up by field personnel.

Being fluent in Mandarin does help when asking them to reflash it. That's if you can actually find them of course, and not just dealing with a "trading company" i.e. a private individual operating from an apartment or cheap hotel/brothel bedroom, flogging whatever crap can get hold of on Ebay or Ali Express.

I usually go by train and have a couple of very good friends in Shenzhen who can put me up for a few nights. :p ...then pop into Hong Kong for the day and buy the Samsung.

So I guess no one can answer my question about Samsung tablets.

I'm only using the DOPO tab, because it does what I want it to do, barely! To relace a windows machine on a large screen.

    This one?

Only Samsung themselves can answer that. All we can do is speculate.

From my understanding, the usb port will not support a hub, or multi adapters at the same time on Android devices.

In Sundays paper, all the big box stores are advertising the new Galaxy tab pro 8.4, and 10.1 2014 tabs.

I checked out the specs, and sadly, as far as connectivity, it's the same as before. You can use a MHL adapter, or an OTG, but not at the same time.

I guess for now, I'll stay with the chinese tablets, until Samsung, Asus etc, come out with a real PC replacement! I know it will happen, just not this year.

I have 2 Window PC's, and 2 laptops, and refuse to use them except when Im forced to.

I think the OP made a valid point. They weren't arguing that it is better to buy a no-name Chinese tablet than a Samsung. The gripe is with the fact that a no-name Chinese tablet has better functionality than a Samsung in that you can use HDMI and at the same time have something else plugged into its USB port.

TBH not all off-brand Chinese devices are shoddy and crap. But it's very much a question of finding the good ones, that work properly and don't expire after a few weeks or months. From experience by far the best place to do that is in China, where can get hands-on, see what they're like before buying. And if there's any problems, just take them back.

The Samsung Nexus 10 has a dedicated microHDMI out.
