I like the price of the Razr HD, don't feel like dropping another 200 bucks on a phone... I'm not a huge constant phone user... Play a couple games, surf the web light to moderately... light Texting, light to moderate voice calling... Pretty much light everything. Except for playing Asphalt 7. :p At any rate... I never expect more than about 12 hrs out of my phone battery, because quite frankly, I think todays battery technology SUCKS for high end smartphones... So my question is, do any of you think I'm really going to NEED that extra battery, even for light to moderate phone usage? Or am I fairly safe without going MAXX?

BTW, I'm coming from the Droid Bionic, which, IMHO, pretty much sucks battery wise.

Maxx is for people whom think they need more battery. Does not sound like you think you do.

I have had this phone since March and the battery has gone almost 2 days with my moderate use. Depending on the day and what I'm doing the battery has been great and I didn't go with the HD Maxx.

16gb vs maxx's 32gb storage as well, not that it matters much since it has sd slot.

Saw the Razr Maxx HD at costco for 99 (new activations), 119 for upgrades. Plus there is another form for a free car mount and case (in addition to all the other stuff you get by activating a phone from costco).

I got the MAXX because my previous phone was the Droid X, which initially had decent battery life but after 18 months of use was struggling to last an hour or two.

So I didn't buy it for upfront battery life, but hopefully to extend the longevity of the phone itself.

My Bionic is charged every night when I turn in. I never think about charging. After Jelly Bean "something" turned on "Developer options" with no options selected. Battery was dying after 10 hours. When I found it and turned it off battery went back to pre-Jelly Bean behavior.

I had a similar problem with My Droid X. It was more than 18 months old. I got a replacement OEM battery on Amazon ($14) and it went back to the way it was when I bought it.

I have the hd...not maxx.....i consider myself a moderate user...i don't pay games but still i use 6-8 gigs a month (yeah i still have my unlimited data) and i get a full day out of it....i work 6-3 and usually have 70ish % when i get home, by bed time, usually 9ish, i plug up with around 20% left. I think you'll be fine with the hd. For what its worth, you might consider waiting until more is known about the moto x if you can...

It's way worth it plus you get 16g extra storage, I can't see any reason to get the regular over the Maxx plus they cost much less now than when they first came out
